I went through this too just 1 week ago. I am 21 1/2 weeks and I from Saturday afternoon to Monday morning with no movement and I got concerned so I called my midwife. She said that it perfectly ok but if I was concerned I could go and see her at the hospital and she would listen to the heart beat. I went to the hospital and it took her a while to find the heart beat but that was because baby had gone so low down like right by my pubic bone. She said the baby is still so small that it is only a few movements that I should feel. It sounds to me like they have a 20 week rest! If you are worried call your midwife as worrying is not good for either of you. Mail me if you want to talk further I'm due on Feb 20 you must be near that date too :o) Good luck and try not to worry.

At 20 weeks it's normal not to feel movement every day, especially if you've just started feeling it a few times a day two weeks prior. Every baby is different and some are indeed lazier that others. However, I think what you're going through has more to do with not being quite far along enough yet to feel regular movements. Feeling movement depends on so much...your build, the position of the uterus and placenta, and which way the baby is turned. If the baby is facing your back, he or she might be moving constantly and you may never realize it.

I want to stress this: ANYTIME you are worried about ANYTHING for any reason, no matter how big or small, call your doctor...if for nothing more than peace of mind. There are no stupid questions when it comes to pregnancy, and you're paying your doctor to work for you. He or she is obligated to answer all your questions, see you whenever there's a problem, and provide you with the best possible prenatal care.

I'm sure everything is just fine. Good luck and congrats!

2 days with no noticable fetal movement is awhile. Baby could be moving just at night while you are sleeping if you are overly active.
I advise this... go take a hot bath... lay in it and really relax.... then wait a little while and see if you can feel baby stir. This should do the trick for you to be calm and still and maybe you just havent noticed. He also could be turned and kicking toward your spine and not your tummy.
I personally do think 2 days from my own experience of having 6 kids is a long time to feel no movement. So go try the bath and if no movement still I would go to the doctor immediately.

How many kicks should I feel each day?

While you are busy you will probably be less aware of the movements your baby is making. It's more likely you'll start to notice them when you sit down and relax.

Studies of fetal activity show that every baby has his or her own individual pattern of waking and sleeping inside the uterus -- there is no 'set' amount of kicks to expect -- but by late pregnancy you will probably have become tuned into your baby's pattern of movements.

I haven't felt my baby kick today, should I be worried?

If you are concentrating on something else, you may not have noticed your baby's movements. If you want some reassurance, here are some ways to encourage your baby to move:

• Lie down on your side (with support under your bump) and stay still
• Put your feet up and relax
• Play music to your stomach.

Not so long ago, women were advised to monitor their baby's movement with a fetal kick chart, where you kept a record of the times of the movements until you had noted ten kicks, hopefully by roughly the same time each day. But these charts are used less and less now as they were easy to forget about and the kick patterns didn't always match up, which caused unnecessary concern among women.

Are you sure thtat it was for sure the baby moving and not gas that you had felt before? Even so, a babies movements are still very faint this early. They may have their back towards your back and you cant feel them moving because their arms arent long enough. Most of what you feel when you feel movement is when they are right up in the front of your uterus with their back touching the front side... If you are concerned call the doc and see if you can go in to see if they can find the heartbeat with a doppler. Also you can rent a doppler for these worrisome moments at storkradio.com. I rented one my whole pregnancy ane when I didnt feel enough movement I used it to make sure her heartbeat was still there. Good luck, but I am sure everything is fine.

I have had three kids so Im very exprienced at 20 weeks you should a regular amount of movement each day no baby sleep all day and even if so they still flinch and kick there could be a probloem with your babys cord which can cause heart rate and blood flow complications so my advice is to immediately see a doctor and also try to keep a journal time/date of babys movement and use heads sets with soft music that stimilates movement as well

Its still early to be feeling alot of movement. Your baby may be facin you back or active when your sleeping. sometimes I would feel my baby all the time and other days I'm lucky if I feel her once. But as the weeks go on youll feel your baby alot more. I would just call your doctor if your really worried. Congrats!

Once you are feeling the baby move regularly, you would expect to feel it every day. I would be concerned if I was you and would definitely want to see my midwife.
If you have an anterior placenta - at the front - that can cushion the movements so you don't feel as much. But even so I would see someone just to be on the safe side if its been 2 days.
I hope everything is fine and you just have a very chilled-out baby.

Well I can understand your concern and when in doubt call the doc. But at this stage in pregnancy, movements are spuratic to you because your baby is not quite strong enough for you to feel every little movement. I wouldn't worry too much, but again, it's always best to call your doctor for peace of mind! Better safe than sorry.

It's normal early in pregnancy to not feel the baby that often. You're lucky that you felt the baby at 18 weeks! If you get too worried (which isn't healthy for you or your baby), call the doctor for peace of mind. Good luck!
