Generally not. Most modern pc's have a CD ROM drive instead or a CD burner. Memory sticks can also be used. These hold more information than the old 3.5 floppys and are plugged into the USB port when required.
You can still buy floppy drives as an add on (I've got one on my PC) but unless you want to access old floppy discs often it's not really worth buying one.

not any longer. 3.5" floppy drives are just about a thing of the past and haven't been standard equipment for a few years.

For software installation, the bootable CD made the floppy obsolete and for portable data storage, the usb flash drive made the floppy obsolete. Long term data storage has gone to external drives or CD-R.

For those reasons, the 3.5" floppy drive is no longer an efficient device and most computers just don't have one.

They're very inexpensive though, if you'd like to add one. It's just that there are so many more better ideas for data storage and portability now.

Not so long ago it was a standard thing the have a floppy drive, but now computer builders have stopped including them. This is because a)No one uses them any more as we all use USB drives b)If the PC goes wrong, it can be booted from a re-writeable CD or (on some motherboards) a USB drive.

No they don't which is kind of unfortunate. Alot of today's schools still have the kids using floppy's for taking work back and forth. They have not adopted the flash drive fully yet.

It's usually an option or take the one out of your old machine and put it in the empty spot that usually still there. The ones in the old machines are no different than buying a new one.

No. Floppy drives are quickly becoming a thing of the past, as CD and flashdrives become more common. Given that the 3.5" floppy can hold only 1,4 megs of files, and that magnetic media is NOT permanent, it's days are truly numbered.

Nowadays you have to request them. Thumb drives have replaced the floppy. I wouldn't assume that a computer you're going to use has a floppy drive.

If you really need to use a floppy you may want to invest in your own portable usb floppy drive.

Usually only older PC's have floppy drives, but if you are purchasing a new PC, you can still have one added to one of the extra ports that are provided.

Most computers use to. But nowdays there really isn't a point to have them. (mine doesn't). With Flash Drives and burning CD's holding a lot more info and faster. There is really no point in them anymore.
They need to come out with some 1gb flash disk. That can read and wright as fast as flash drives, but cost as much as a disk does.
