we beat russia 3-0, then go to theres i know it was a plastic pitch but 1-0 up away to russia then we get beat in lets face it it a must win game, this england team arnt worth the money the getting, george best will be turning in his grave watching this shower of shi--, in his day they used to play for the shirt now they play for the model girlfriend, the superstar status, they should get paid on a performance based wage if they crap they get nothing simple as that, but nowdays, they get payed even if they injured for a year, ive been dissapointed since euro 96 with this england team. bring back gazza and lineker

The fact is...mediocrity is the watchword of everyone concerned with the England team. The players are over rated, the manager is an embarrassment and the FA itself is a bunch of hopeless amateurs. Bobby Moore must have been spinning in his grave if he heard people waxing lyrical about beating Israel!!!!!
England have become nothing more than a pointless and boring soap opera. I'd like to know when one of these well paid punters is going to tell the truth finally?

GEORGE BEST????? Used to play for the shirt???? Which shirt was that then? Same as the current crop of England internationals, Best had no interest in the shirt,only in how much money he could get from it. Give me the Denis Laws, the Charltons, the Bobby Moores and the Nobby Stiles any day. They knew that it was an honour to pull on your national jersey. What did Best achieve for N.Ireland? He quit playing at 28 'cos he was a vodka addicted wreck. Died at 50 something 'cos he couldn't give it up, even after a liver transplant. George Best epitomses all that is wrong with British football. Gazza? As with Best, he wasted his talent. Lineker? Hansen? McMenemy? Shearer? Rush? Dalgleish? These are the sort of guys England need, not the George Bests of this world.

Here's the problem.
Sven was a disaster, so the FA hire his assistant to do his old job.
The problem here is the FA, they sit on their asses doing FA about the inept manager they hired because if they sacked him then it would look like they made a mistake hiring him in the first place (it was a big mistake to hire that prune!) They know that if they do nothing, they will remain in their highly paid jobs. Why didn't they do something about this train wreck that is English football as soon as Sven left, not 2 years later.

Well, George Best is a bad example. Firstly, if anything, he'll be applauding N. Ireland's draw against Sweden. As for the superstar status, model girlfriend thing, George invented all that, and he turned his back on the game at the age of 27. Stanley Matthews might have been a better example.

Worst England team to ever play under the worst manager to ever manage at International level.
Look at Man City with Sven and then realise how crap international wise these players truly are. It's alright doing it at club level but if you can't do it at international level then you were overrated in the first place.
Sven can manage but even these hopeless bunch of players were unmanageable.
Too interested in their Xbox/PS2 game licenses and less interested in winning the World Cup/Euro championships. Bunch of numpties who will be known as a bunch of numpties.
