Hi
I Have always been interested in becoming a commercial pilot, and my ambition and career route was to join the RAF and learn to fly with them, and then after serving them become a civlian commercial pilot, however I am allergic to Nuts, and I found out that you cannot join the RAF if you have an allergy to Nuts!
I still want to become a commercial pilot, but I dont know any other way to go about.
I'm 17 years old, and am just about to apply for university to study civil or aeronautical engineering, if anyone has any info or links about how I go about becoming a commercial pilot it would be appreciated!

But surely you can sue for discramination~
What the hell does being allergic to nuts have to do with flying a bloody plane?

Heya,

Well, considering your situation with the allergy, you are dooing the right thing, a physics or an engineering focus is the thing to do for a career as a pilot. At university, it has been known for airline companies to come to find willing students, look out for careers events on that.

One thing I know is that magazines like "Today's Pilot" have information on scholarships run buy airlines for trainees and information on the route to becoming a pilot as well. Maybe find the website for that, or careers ones as well. Good luck

My ex went through the RAF route, and became a commercial pilot when he left at age 35.

Most flying schools charge a fortune to train you. It costs a lot of money to keep a plane in the air....Fuel, maintenance, cost of instructor etc.

You might need to find another career to fund your flying lessons.

My sister's boyfriend is actually studying to become a commercial piolet. He is currently studying at Spartan. Their website link is http://www.spartan.edu/

From what I hear, it has one of the best flight programs.
