Mainstream rock? Well perhaps by then it will have shaken this almost two-decades obsession with post-grunge. Since Radiohead broke the "free" giveaway trend into the mainstream (although they were far from the first to try it), I can see a few more high-profile bands following suit, although the labels will still resist it to their loss. Overall, mainstream will continue to splinter as it has for some time, meaning there will be fewer and smaller "huge" bands and a lot more proliferation of medium-sized fringe bands.

Although I like to imagine that it can't possibly get any worse, because of the 'rock' bands that are popular now, who lack originality and talent, such as My Chemical Romance, Fallout Boy, and all that crap...Right at this moment, rock has been replaced by emo, euch...The closest shreds resembling rock, good music, there's is left are bands like the Chili Peppers...Rock is now, at this moment, DEAD!!!!!I know it's very sad, but I think either it'll keep continuing on a downhill slope, orrrr, there'll be some sort of music revolution, we need one!!!!!

well i personaly hate mainstreem rock because it just seem to ruin alot of good bands such as Korn and SOAD and stuff like that but now i listen to alot of underground rock metal/hardcore/and screamo and thrash and stuff because they seem to be sticking to true rock heavy and they are great players not this weak power cord crap but im hopeing one band will break through to mainstreem and keep there own music instead of playing what "in" and then many bands will follow.
