Da' Bears...ahhhh such a good team.
Can be a powerful team! Yet, right now my rationalization of their less than stellar performance is that they are having 'emotional/family' problems. Once they get everything hashed out they will once again become a force to be reckoned w/.

They are somewhere in between. That defense is not as bad as it looked against the vikings....but the defensive coordinator is. How do you not change the defensive scheme at halftime, when you've just been torched by Adrian Peterson? They didn't call a SINGLE blitz until the last drive when they kicked the winning FG (they blitzed Briggs through I believe the 1 gap and he stopped Adrian Peterson for like a 2-3 yard loss). Their offense on the other hand is average at best. It would be real interesting to see what the Bears would do if they had a real high draft pick. Would they go with someone like Braun (Louisville QB) or McFadden (RB)? I'm not sold on Benson, but we do need a qb in the worst way.

Chicago Bears - Good. Chicago Bears Quarterbacks - Horrible. If the Bears could get someone in there at QB who didn't turn the ball over and would give the defense a break in the second half, they would have a much better record. Defense wins championships, but points win games.

The Bears are a bad team and they will finish with a losing record. Both defense and offense are bad. The only bright spot is Devin Hester and the Special Teams.

Bad - very bad. They went to the SB in spite of the offense last year and because of the defense. Now, that defense gives up over 300 yards on the ground to the Vikings. The only way you can overcome a defense that is that bad is if you have Manning at QB.

They are awful, and those who have answered so far are either Bears fans or clueless. Their defense was good last year, but they progressed far because of a very week NFC and Hester.
Any team that has to rely on special teams to put up points in order to advance, is not a good team. Now their defense is awful, so the user who said QB is their only problem is wrong, they have no QB, weak receving corps, and lost their best RB to the Jets. The Bears are a bad football team.

They need a long term QB...most likely through the draft...Rex is just way too inconsistent...Brian Griese was OK in Denver for a year or two after Elway retired, but then fell off the map...Personally, I think Kyle Orton did OK whenever it was that Rex went down a year or 2 ago...If they had the right people to work with him, I think he would be good...

I may be alone in this, but I think Griese actually is a good QB. It's never easy to switch QB's in the middle of the season, especially since Griese is much different in terms of his style of throwing and game management.
I think the Bears are just underrated (even by themselves)...and they need one good dominating game to get some confidence and start rolling over teams again.

the defense was what kept the bears good last year but the bears have been decimated with a ton of injuries in the defense so their defense is what? in the bottom quarter of the nfl. thus they are in last place in the nfc north.

Very bad D but Devin Hester alone is enough to put the somewhere in between, very close to just plain bad though.
