few months cos he was bored of the course, he phoned me the other day when I was on my break in uni and I was talking to him and was asking what he had been up to and if he enjoyed his holiday.He told me that he was bored and I said things get like that sometimes and he said to me "It's allright for you, you've got university".If he is now bored then why the heck did he come off the course in the first place?He does'nt make any sense!

He may have quit school because of depression, or some family issues that he didn't want to tell you about. It sounds like there is more to this story from his end than he is telling you.

It may not be entirely his fault if he is bored.
Maybe he genuinely didn't like his course - a lot of people start at university and then quit because the course isn't what they thought it would be.
Encourage him to get a job, or start back at uni, or go to some evening classes at a college doing something he really wants to do.
Don't be too hard on him.Maybe he regrets quitting, and wishes he'd stayed, you never know. Ask him?

Tell him to get his bum back to uni then, and go for a different course.
