And give it to people who have less, to get them to vote Democrat?

it is income redistribution and that is what taxes do. however, what most people do not know is that when money is taken from business owners, they can't afford to have as many employees and so working people lose jobs. when policitians try to punish achievers, the effects trickle down and the poor working people are the ones who really get punished.
anyway, I heard today that the richest 1% in America pay something like 40% of the taxes. Tax on people earning under $50,000 a year is about 3% according to what I heard on the radio today. Everyone needs to make the most of their own opportunities to earn income. Only the disabled and children deserve a free ride. The lazy do not.
And the working poor deserve not to have their jobs jerked out from under them because their boss is being taxed to punish him/her for success!
Democrats like the idea of equalizing the playing field as long as they themselves do not have to give up their own money.

That is a simplistic, but true, way to look at it. The rich already pay most of the taxes. But the poor and non-taxed use the federally funded programs, Welfare, etc. So in that sense yes. That is the liberal way. Take the money out of the achievers to give to the no achievers. They gain the vote of those who just want a free ride from the govt. and don't want to work hard and achieve.

Not necessarily to get them to vote Democrat, but yes, that is a quality of the Democratic party. Tax those with more more than those with less.

Thats a skewed robin hood way of looking at it. Democrats believe in social institutions that support poor people and they tax everyone else to fund them. This isn't a way of gaining votes, but imagine if you are being helped by these programs. You would want to support democrats because republicans generally want to cut taxes and take money away from the programs that are helping you survive.

I say that if the government wants 10% (just a number) for taxes then everyone shouild pay 10%. The people with money can afford all the tax shelters and tax breaks that the low income can't afford. So the tax burden is falling on those who don't have enstead of those who do have. This is not fair.

That is what Democrats say: they want to take from the rich and give to the poor. What they want to do is have government control everything. The Dems make promises to everyone who thinks he is poor, to buy his votes with money from other tax payers.

well the Democrats tend to want alot of fluffy "programs" to help people and they tend to have more of a socialist view like we need to take care of people. Republicans don't like to spend or waste money and tend to be more of the let everyone take care of themself attitude. I can see both views and i'm not necessarily either but we need a new party! In the end both are evil to a point.

Democrats want everyone to have the same things that way you avoid class issues.

If everyone is the same then there ae no issues regarding rich and poor.

Is it true that Republicans want to take money from those who have less and give it to Haliburton?

Democrats support working people, Republicans support the wealthy. It is called "politics".

I think the first part of your question is accurate. The second part is speculation. Both parties will do this sort of thing to get more votes btw.
