I think its special when you use a name that has already been in the family for a middle name.
Gramma's name, aunt's name... her mom's name?
I had a boy a year ago, but if I had a girl, her middle name was going to be my maiden name because its Lilly... so that sounds good. I guess not all maiden names can be middle names, but maybe her's will sound nice!
