You don't install "the internet". You may need to setup a dial-up or DSL connection so you can access the internet, but if you have a broadband connection (DSL or Cable), it's usually just a matter of plugging your computer in and when you open a browser or other program that access the internet, it will automatically detect the connection.

As for a ISP (internet service provider), I would either look for cable internet from your cable company or DSL service from your phone company. Figure either one should cost between $25 and $50 per month depending on connection speed and other variables.

When you sign up with an ISP, they can actually come out to your home and set up the equipment and connection (often for a small fee). If you decide to subscribe to a dial-up service like AOL then it's as simple as popping in the disk and following the steps - and making sure you have a phone line plugged into your modem.

Open your local phone book and look under Internet providers in the yellow pages to see a list of what is available in your area. As for the T-1 line at your work, they are extreamly expensive and nowadays most cable internet connections are faster and cheaper. If you have cable TV at your house, chances are you could contact them for an internet connection as well and they usually provide the hardware you will require too. One word of advice: don't sign up for the Yahoo services, or earthlink, or any of the other major commercial networks - they normally just connect you to the local DSL or cable network and charge you more than if you went to the cable company yourself.

Shop around for different prices from your cable and phone companies for the best price and make sure you get the high speed connection (and NOT dial up!). These companies will either come out to hook up the internet for you or will drop off a self-install box/booklet that will walk you through the steps.
Good luck!

You need an internet service provider. What is available will vary by area. Take a look at www.thelist.com to see what is available. You don't install the internet on your computer. You install a browser like Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox.

First you have to sign up with an Internet service provider, I use AT&T DSL High Speed, Dial Up is cheapest and slowest.
The provider will help with installation and set up, they have to provide the codes to set up the connection. If your lap top ahs WiFi you can connect for free at hotels, coffee shops, libraries and more. You ca look in telephone book, on Internet etc for a provider. Most all phone companies have Internet service. Look at Yahoo AT&T Internet service.
Hope this helps

Your computer probably came with an internet service provider's software already, but, that will only be a dial-up service. I suggest you contact your cable or telephone company and they can hook you up with DSL. Usually you get a start-up disk and a modem through them.

Bah, would also like an answer to this question. I lost my copy of the internets. It's way too hard to find another. Although mate, I think I saw Dixons said they had a few.

Check with your local cable or telephone company for a good speed connection. In most cases they will install it for you.

Good Luck

PS- you do not need a t-1 line in your home, your cable connection is plenty fast and no you cannot get it from Walmart

Go to the internet store, and get the DVD verson. But make sure you have a large hard drive, because the DVD holds the WHOLE internet, and it is all in zip (compressed) files.
