Selecting a name is a very important responsibility. It will impact the girls life significantly. FIRST Where will the girl reside? The culture and country will have an important role. My Filipina wife wants to change her name to "Barbara Jean".... I tried to tell her living in America with the initials "BJ" was not a good idea. SECOND Prepare yourself....No matter what name you choose....she will eventually not like it. Young girls are very self critical. No matter how beautiful they or their name is they will reach a point where they will want to change it. THIRD The desire to give a child a unique name can backfire and bring them into ridicule. Think like a child. Do not chose names which lend themselves to corruption. A perfectly good name like "Priscilla" will be corrupted to "Sissy Prissy" FOURTH College studies have shown that certain names generate a negative response. Some names will get consistently poorer grades than others regardless of the quality of the school works. FINALLY The most common girls name in the Philippines is Marie or Maria. I know one Filipina who has used both names at different stages of her life. In my opinion you should pick a nice common name and not try to get "cute". The girl will make any name you give her beautiful if you raise her correctly..

"Maria Clara"

Being called by the name of Maria Clara means that you are conservative and respected Filipina.

"Sisa" is also a good one.
