So im planning on moving to Portland, Oregon in about 8 months (yeah i know it's WAY early to start planning but,,,) And well let's just say that i'm very clueless on the process. I've done my share of moving within the same town and i'm iffy about how to come about moving 7 hours away from here! Not sure where to start. Like when to look for an apartment? Or should i stay at a hotel there and then start looking for a place? All i know is that i dont have alot of cash to be going back & forth to find a nice place to live! so any advice? Oh and i dont know anybody there other wise i'd crash with them.

Portland is a nice town and there is lots to do. Check with Craig list to get and idea of what rents are going to be and you can have a few places lined up before you even get there.
The real trick to moving is to move as little as possible. Clear out all the things that you don't really need. Clothing that you havn't worn for years. Paper work that you really have not even looked at for ever. Have the garage sale and take any offers. Trash the rest. You really won't miss all the crap. believe me. There are auction houses in Portland where you can find everything for 10 cents onthe dollar. Get new stuff when you get there its fun and cheap. TV's, washers and dryers, refrigerator. you can replace all this stuff for little money and then you don't have to move it. Trust me its the best way.
