I am 21 years old, and I love children, I wold love to start my own daycare one day, I am independent, and have been babysitting for the last 3 years. Its okay, but I would love to start my own business, a day care was my first thought, although I am open to ideas, so my questions are: what other business can I start relating to children requiring minimal education? and will I be able to start a daycare with bad credit? I know im 21 but having your own apt requires alot, and i screwed up alot in the past. I have family members that are willing to help if i start a daycare but how?

Go to http://www.grants.gov for a list of daycare government grants and how you can apply for them.

Our city requires that if you have 6 or more kids it's not babysitting, it's day care, and the care giver needs to be licensed by the city. They do an inspection, and if everything is ok they issue a certificate. Yours might ask for the same thing. Call your City Clerk (in the phone book) or Alderman to find out what the ordinances and proceedures are.

Periodically they come through our area and shut down the unlicensed ones (they get fines too), we had 3 on our street alone, but one did get the proper paperwork and now they're the only one doing this.
