Yes. Seeing a ghost is a real human experience. I suspect that ghosts associated with hauntings, crisis apparitions and seeing your deceased relatives may all have different explanations. The term apparition used to mean the visual image of person that you know to not be physically present at your location was used as far back as 1882 in order to attempt to be more precise than the word ghost.
If a ghost is the surviving spirit of a person, a recorded memory impressed in the atmosphere, or access to a collective consciousness (all ideas to explain ghosts) is something that science has not yet determined.
Dreams and emotions are real and do not posses a physical structure so are ghosts material objects? most experiences suggest they are not. However, not being material does not equal not being real.

Well everyone will have a different opinion on this matter.Some say yes some say no there is no proof so no they don,t.We on the other hand do believe there out there and have had a few personal experiences.But in the long run it what you want to believe in that matters to you.Some secptics and believers will be arguing till the end of time on this Question so the only real answer is what you believe to be is what you believe.We all have heard ghost stories at sometime in our lives but one book I do remember is Into the Unknown i cant remember who published it but it well worth reading.So yes I believe there are ghost.

Personally, I think they are..I don't think that people walk around like trying to scare the sh*t out of you or anything but I think that some deceased people may make their presence known in a house where they lived if someone moved into it or if they are trying to show themselves to a loved one..I have had a few experiences and I'm not at all a crazy person, to be honest it scared the **** out of me. Another thing, if you don't believe in that kinda stuff you're less likely to see it, because if you do see something that could have been a "ghost" then you're more likely to brush it off as a hallucination or seeing things..A good book I recommend that is AMAZING is called "Hello from Heaven" and it's about people who have reported seeing someone they loved that passed away...People act like it's "not possible" because they're close minded and think there has to be a scientific reason for it, but you can't always get that. There are a LOT of things that are possible and real but we just don't believe it most of the time. :) Anyway, hope that helped, you won't be able to put that book down if you read it!

Here's a fun question for Halloween!

Well, I think if you're talking about ghosts in the cinematic context (white sheets with the eyes cut out going, "woooooooooooo"), then no lol. That's just something some adult made up to scare bad little kids into behaving.

But in the literal context of the word, that is, "an apparition of a dead person that is believed to appear or become manifest among the living," then I'd say definitely. Many religions believe in an afterlife and the living on of the spirit, whether in the earth, as animals, or even as other people. I think the term ghost in and of itself is a more antiquated concept and that such beings should be referred to more as spirits so as to avoid confusion with those white sheet-wearing ones lol.

First you need to accept that they could be real out there..
I had visited a friend many years ago, and always saw a shadow and they used to joke and say it was there ghost...I said no way...then thay moved to another town, and guess who followed...I got a cold chill and saw a shadow, and said comeon is this for real and they said yup he followed...mind you I looked for any reason why there would be a chill..and there was none...he never did anything he just showed up...I cross my heart, I kid you not...this did happen...when they all broke up and grew up and moved separate ways. The ghost did not follow..very weird but a very Gosh to honest truth...I did not believe in it...but I saw an image, it was a shadow and it had short hair that is all I know...
so yes, they are out there, you have to have an open mind to this though...

Yes. Many people have seen them. There are well known haunted houses all over the world...

They are said to be restless spirits who can't move on to the spirit world or afterlife, many times because of some untimely or tragic death...and some are said to be evil and demonic.

I have never seen a ghost personally, but I have no reason to doubt their existance. Too many people claim to have had real encounters from every walk of life. I have seen enough evidence to convince me that ghosts are very real.

What is a ghost?

Most beliefs state theres a life after this one. Presumably youd go there when you died. If there isnt, and you can stay behind and move stuff around without being seen, then countless millions of ghosts would be comminucating with us all the time.

I believe that the simplest answer is "No, they're not", but without documented evidence the question is probably more "Do you want to believe in them or not?"

This all depends on your belief system.
In some religions they believe that there is nothing supernatural apart from their divine creator
However as I am not a part of one of those I find it highly contradictory to believe that only one ghost is allowed to exist.
There are events in this world that are difficult to explain or disprove, in those occurances I believe that yes ghosts are real, but there are many who would disagree.
To each his own, the belief of whether ghosts exist lies entirely in your mind.

No - it doesn't matter who you ask; it only matters if you ask the question "do you believe ghosts are real?" and then some may answer "yes."

But this does not make ghosts real. Even the Holy Ghost, which some folks believe in.

It all hinges on that "believe" trick.

No. There's simply no evidence. All the photos and such that have been submitted always prove to be fake or hoaxes and all other 'evidence' is anecdotal - from people who assume that everything they see is real, even though they often admit they were half-asleep or very tired.

Besides anything else, there's no reason to think we have souls in the first place so what exactly would a ghost even be?
