Smoking is going to cause more health problems in a shorter amount of time. Shortness of breath, loss of appetite, poor circulation. Possibly, these can develop rapidly (less that 10 years) into more serious stuff like chronic bronchitis, more susceptible to colds or flu due to over all poorer health, asthma, lung cancer, pneumonia, c.o.p.d.
Drinking alcohol in moderation usually takes a very long time to affect the liver or blood sugar level. Heavier consumption of alcohol is going to speed this up but still could possibly take the biggest part of a lifetime to cause serious health problems. Binge drinking can kill a person in a couple of hours given the right situation. Definitely DON'T binge drink.
Health wise drinking in moderation is not as bad. Neither are good.
My opinion drinking alcohol is worse due to the life changing events that it can cause even with moderation. D.U.I., loss of drivers license, imprisonment for any type of legal problems that generally come with drinking. Your personal well being is at risk also more often with drinking than smoking. Alcoholism has been the cause of divorce, depression, lack of motivation, and personal destruction in the lives of many people.
I do not encourage smoking or drinking.
No matter how old you are or how much you've had to drink PLEASE DO NOT DRIVE.

It like comparing bad vs bad.. but the worst is smoking. Alcohol for some extent is good.
But forget about alcohol or tabacco ... excess of anything is injurious to health.

Drinking is okay in moderation, but even just one or two cigarettes per day will shorten your lifespan by 6 or 7 years.

They're both as bad as each other. My thoughts are mostly drinking for teenagers because they drink to get drunk and can be disruptive and vandalize. Generally they can get way out of hand and it's not just teenagers.

smoking---you don't get a decent buzz, your breath stinks, you want another cig for no logical reason, you are banished to the outdoors, your teeth get brown, it's expensive, and maybe most importantly, uh, when you can't breathe, nothing else matters.
