Adolf Hitler was more evil. Joseph Stalin actually killed more people, but he did it for personal gain. Hitler had his "cleansing" theory based on a relegion. This way, he was able to influence people to do evil stuff. Stalin just scared everybody. Hitler actually convinced people that stuff he was doing was right. He manipulated people.

This is an interesting question that should be on a History final. Stalin killed millions of his own people due to forcing them in collectives. Millions died due to starvation, disease and of course WW2. He also was a megalomaniac who had no problem executing his own staff. The true numbers of how many died due to Stalin may never be known. Enemies of Stalin and their families disappeared.
Hilter as we know instigated and orchestrated the Holocaust. Over 6 million people mostly of the Jewish faith were killed in work camps, or concentration camps.
Both men were mentally off, and very evil. It is hard to truly decide which one was more evil. I'd say that Hitler has a slight edge. However, I'd also point out that if the numbers are ever found, more people died under Stalin's rule than Hilter.

Most people now consider Stalin to be worse, comparing Stalin's estimated death toll of 20 million to the 6 million Jews killed in the Holocaust. I think this argument is pretty flawed on a few counts:
Hitler killed a lot more than the 6 million Jews, for one thing. Over 11 million Soviet civilians were murdured by the Nazi's in just under 3 years, as well as over 3 million Soviet POW's. So take the 6 million, add the 11 million, and the 3 million, and it's now a tie in terms of who killed the most, and there is still more to add to Hitlers total. More importantly, Hitler was stopped, Stalin wasn't. Hitler would easily have killed over 100 million people if he could have.
And finally, while I would never argue that Stalin's ends justified his means, in terms of looking at how evil he was in comparison to Hitler, it matters. Stalin killed 20 million people in an attempt to bring a country just leaving the middle ages into the industial age. Hitler killed 20+ million in an attempt to kill over 100 million people and wipe entire races and cultures off the planet.
Stalin was horrible, but Hitler was in a class all to himself when it comes to evil.

I would say Hitler was more evil than Stalin.
Yes, Stalin more than likely killed off people during his time as head of the USSR during the cold war, but it was mainly directed at spies or intelligence to gain a upper hand. Stalin also may not have been where he had been in the world if not for Hitler. Cause and effect.
But look at Hitler - he killed off millions of people, destroyed hundreds of towns and villages with the help of his Gestapo. He commited genocide, the worst that history has ever seen,. During his, and the Third Reich's, reign of power torture (of varying types) was something that the majority of people who didn't fit into his perfect race ideals (blonde, blue-eyed) were constantly confronted with.
Then figure that he talked Italy and Japan into working with him. They bombed and destroyed parts of China, Italy, and don't forget Pearl Harbor. No, some of that destruction was not a direct cause of Hitler's reign. But overall, oh yeah, he was definitely the greater evil.

I consider them both pretty evil. Consider this, Stalin's mass killings were mostly before WW II (100,000 a year), and mostly from his purges and 'collectivization in early 30's with the latest estimate of around 20-30 million dead. His genocide wasn't a full time occupation to his death, unlike Hitler, but that's where the comparison stops.
When comparing the two, both were evil, both put people in concentration camps, both committed genocide, both were dictators, both...well you get the picture. The one factor Hitler had over Stalin tho, Hitler was insane. Stalin was just angry and distrustful.
Other things to consider,Stalin killed more people, Hitler started WW II, Hitler killed the Jews and some people in his nation, but he started the war that resulted in many troops dying on both sides. Hitler may be considered the greater of both evils; tho Stalin killed more people it is said, Hitler's action ensured that those loses were as high as possible.
It is my conclusion that Hitler may be the 'evil-er" of them all, but comparing the them is ludicrous, now that i think about it, so just forget about it!

Neither. Everyone has an agenda, whatever it may be. And, with the right political influences during their time of reign, the truth becomes evident. Check out the history of the two individuals and their rise to power. Pay keen attention to what was going on during that time period, and look at the key players and what they represent during that time. This is where you'll find true answers to your question.

Stalin killed more. Millions more. Hitler was evil...Stalin was evil. All that matters is that we recognize evil for what its seen as and both can be used as examples of it.

Hitler, by far. He was responsible for the deaths of 6 millions jews and millions of others. He turned on Stalin. If it wasn't for that mistake, we might be speaking German in the U.S. today.

Both men were equally evil. Millions died under their regimes due to their egos and hunger for power and control over others.
