Think of it as an object. Even a person or a place is a thing. "Going" isn't a thing, it's an action. Shopping is an action, "a shop" is a thing. "Acted" is a verb, it's something u did. "In" is a preposition, it tells u more about where the action took place. "Movie" is a thing. Nouns are the only words to be preceded by "a", "an" or "the", although they are not always.

umm by "verd" do you mean "verb"?
A noun is a person, place, or thing. For example, the word "telephone" is a noun because a telephone is a thing. If you are talking about a person, then it is called a "Proper Noun". For Example, my name is Michael. The word "Michael" is a proper noun. Hope this makes sense!
