My employer is conducting a presidential candidate poll in the office. Is this legal?

Sure, why not? Polls are meant to reveal a trend, not individual choices. As long as an individual's choice is not made public to the whole office, it should be fun. If the choices are being made public, then the whole office can just declare "undecided".
