No, I never assume that. My straight friends got too much bs from people in High School from hanging around with me for me to be mean. (Did that make sense? Yikes, I need coffee)
Anyways, good job on befriending and defending some people different than that. We need more people like you in the world, hun!
Oh, and don't worry about people assuming you're gay. Your friends will return your kindness and defend you.

There are unfortuately a lot of people who judge you by the company you keep. That judgement however includes thier biases and prejudices.
In the heat of an argument we often times say things that we don't really mean, or actually mean but in cooler times would find it impolite to actually say them.
People who have friends who are openly gay tend to find that the people who shun them are people who have a problem with homosexuality in general and are unable to deal with thier own insecurities.
Keep your open mind, "to thy own self be true" and know that the only way the species (homosapiens that is) is going to survive is to move beyound our prejudices and insecurities.
Keep defending those who cannot defend themselves, isn't that one of the points of the good book?
Good luck

Nope, I try to live by the old adage: "Never assume, it only makes an @$$ out of you!"
Good for you that you stand up for those you care about. Have you talked with your parents about this issue? Do they assume you're gay too or do they support your being a good person and doing the right thing?

My family is doing the same thing, they learned that some of my friends are gay or bi, and now they think im gay(im bi, but they dont know)But Ive just learned to ignore the comments and insults my family throws at them and myself.
I dont assume that people are just because they have friends who are gay. But unfortunatly alot of people are ignorant, and think otherwise. Which is sad, but its not gonna change anytime soon, unfortunatly.

No. I think that is just plain ignorance, and that your brother should just grow up and behave. How old is your brother? If hes mature enough to know what being gay is, he shouldnt be saying things like that. Bad brother Bad, no doughnuts!!!

No, it is never good to assume. I am sorry that is happening to you. In fact it is great you have gay friends. You are very open minded.

It's good that you stand up for what you believe in, but we don't live in a perfect world. you will be judged by the company you keep. It's natural, so you have to see if you are ok with the judgment or do you want to change your company.
also, you are heavily influenced by your friends and will follow them in their ways. One poster above just verified that with her story. choose friends among those who show the kind of life you want to live.

I don't.
It's not like only gay people hang out with gay people and straight people with straight. That's an ignorant thing to think. Just ignore those people, they don't deserve your time.

If you are not now, you probably will be in the future.
That's what happened to me when I was younger I was basically adopted by A lady who was a lesbian (she never hit on me, just tried to take care of me cause my mom was abusive) For 3 years I stayed with her (of course she had a loy of gay and lesbian friends) until I had my son and turned 18 then I moved out on my own. All that time I never had any feelings towards women. I am now 23 years old and in the last year I started to feel sexually attracted to women.
