I, for one, have learned a few new words:

-ghurag introduced all of us to "nickelbacking" (which means to imitate one who is already imitating, and imitating poorly) which I have actually posted in my own answers.
- huevo tentatively used "artsmanship" (when referring to a live act) in an answer to one of my questions. I will bust that one out at some point, as an homage to him.
- And today I saw Cinnamon Grrrl use the term "Amazonaholic", which is a label I can also wear. I'm sure there are support groups for us, or something.

I'm sure there's more, but I don't want to drag this out. I will say, though, the longer I stay here, the more great music I will learn about. Hopefully the laughs will keep coming too. :)

How about you?

Fonzie - it's true. If you keep one screen on Answers and another on Google, you could answer a ton of questions that way.

Bowzer - those questions are definitely *grrr* worthy.

jmike - *still giggling* "The Joker" Rule only applies to creepy, drunk guys in their mid 60's. My blood still runs cold thinking about it, and I can tell you he got nowhere near my peaches.

And yes, Tony Bennett and "sock puppet" can no longer be mentioned in the same sentence.

Go Newcastle!

lovnrckets - *still giggling* well, I'm sure Chino cares, in his own little Chino way. That wasn't a fair thing for me to say. :)

sylvia - it's true. I've lost count of how many times I've answered those questions.

During my time in R&P, I have learned:

- That being insulted and cussed out in weird generation-emo text speak is rather hilarious, even when the cusser is fully serious and full of rage (oh.... the world is a sprialing abyss)...... cut the emo hair and learn some coping skills

- I am not alone in my Amazonholicism.........one day at a time, Knowing is half the battle........sorry couldn't refuse a G.I. Joe reference

- There are individuals who are smart enough to get onto this site and still don't understand the concept of googling..........my 87 year old grandmother knows how, c'mon.....thanks for the easy points, but use your brain

- I am not the only one who can't stand Sweet Caroline and thinks that Stairway is overrated.

- Many, many people use commercials as their divining rod to seek out 'new, good' music...........iPod commercials, Old Navy commercials.......etc

- I now know more about MCR, FOB, PATD......than I ever wanted to........thanks but no thanks

I have learned tons and the education keeps on going.

1. What the modern day definition of emo is and why it sucks hardcore. Seriously, I hated MCR, FOB, etc for the last couple years and feared I was the only one.
2. Sharon Osbourne really is the Devil.
3. Chino Moreno is not concerned with my journey. :)
4. Several cool bands like The Horrors, The Wylde Bunch, and Jakalope.
5. That they recently stopped teaching grammar and English in American high schools.
6. The song from "that Kohl's commercial."
7. The RHCP are no longer universally loved.
8. IDK is the single most annoying form of a text/Internet lingo.
9. The amount of mad love for Mike Patton and Faith No More. Seriously, I never knew he was that great but I have to believe the masses. Not only does he rock, but he's the sexiest man in rock, can cure cancer and likely has parted the Red Sea.
10. Dani sort of covered it already, but the fact that I know members of MCR and FOB by name is absolutely nauseating. Really didn't need to learn that.

I'll keep adding more lessons as they come.

Everything I need to know in life I learned at R&P:

*that all the good questions start getting pushed back to the back of the site at about 4pm EST everyday when all the kiddies start to get home from school

*that there are far too many people who are incapable of forming their own opinions and instead rely on what they're told to like... including classic rock bands

*that there's about 1 out of every 1,072 or so people that know anything about half the bands I listen to (I feel so unloved)

*that having a sarcastic wit and a sense of humor will get you flagged for abuse

*not to sing "The Joker" to Sookie

*"Tony Bennett" and "sock puppet" should never be used in the same sentence... the visual is just too nauseating

*OMG liKe GeRaRd WAY iz lik the HoTTesT n kEwLeSt GUy N Lik the holE wOrlD!!!!!

*"My name is Mike and I too am an Amazonaholic." (Whew... that's step one. Man, that was tough.)

*and finally a whole bunch of other things that have been obliterated by a nightly intake of Yeunglings, ShinerBocks, and Newcastles.

NP: "Memphis" - Chuck Berry

Yes, lovnrckets... Sharon is the devil. ... and all these years, they said Ozzy was a devil worshiper. Nope, he was a devil f*cker.
... and as a guy with a (useless) degree in English, the grammar thing kills me.

I've learned its hard for me to fit..haha. I am 19 and even though I like all sorts of genres, I neither like The Beatles or MCR(and the others, but I group them all as one band), which both have large followings.

And I also learned that its more fun to make fun of the MCR fanatics rather than ignore them.

Edit: Fonzi, you're right about the generation gap...and I happen to be right in the middle of that gap.

Edit: Lovnrckets, Its true, I'm sure 10 years from now a scientist will be able to prove that listening to the acronym army(MCR, FOB, P!ATD, etc.) is linked to bad grammar.

I've learned that Y!A is a tool of the devil, created to drive a wedge between me and my college work! I really should get a start on that data analysis assignment... Well, maybe I'll just peruse the R&P section once more before I do...

Edit:
I've also learned that the R&P section can provide a good laugh, usually at the expense of a MCR fan. I hate to be mean, but come on!

I've learned that the alphabet soup bands (and you know who the big three are!) are really a cult....it's frightening.

I have learned that every day, at least seventeen people want to know who the BEST ROCK BAND EVER really is. Or the BEST ROCK SONG EVER. Or both.

******
jpmike: "Tony Bennett" and "sock puppet" should never be used in the same sentence... the visual is just too nauseating - LMAO!!! (I know what question this is from, but it's still damn funny!)

That the popularity contest just like high school still continues on...and that I'm still misunderstood. Oh, and people are generally pretty dumb and cannot think for themselves (present company excluded).

I never realized how popular My Chemical Romance and Fallout Boy actually are. I'm pretty astonished.
Also, some classic rock fans can be pretty belligerent when it comes to their music.

I've learned that there're lots of people who can answer their very own questions w/ a simple Google search. (eg: "Who sang..", "Who was in the group...", etc)

Also learned that there's something of a generation gap here. (eg: Fall out boy fans vs. metalheads & classic rockers)

Can't think of much else.
