I think it's because many of them sincerely believe that non-Christians will spend eternity in hell and they're trying to save us from that fate.

Well, although I am not a Christian but I feel the right to expression is with everybody and no one can make you act in a particular way unless and until you surrender to his/her wishes. Now it is your inner strength which decides who imposes and who repulses back and superimposes. If you are clear about your religion you cannot be convinced by anyone.
So, gain knowledge of your religion and be strong to fight back any imposition on your freedom to religion.
Remember, if you want peace, be prepared for war.

I don't see this happening at all, let alone "constantly".
I see more liberals trying to impose their morals and views on the population via legislation, or, moreso the courts, than Christians allegedly "imposing" their views.
Try practicing tolerance and acceptance of Christians.

What views might those be? The banning of their winter holiday displays? The banning of teaching "Intelligent Design" in schools? The banning of teaching that Abstinence is the ONLY effective means of birth control or prevention of sexually transmission of diseases?
I think you've got it backwards. Theirs is the only voice that is ever deemed "Unconstitutional".
* Song, you're close to correct. The correct quote is not called the "Jewish Golden Rule", it is a quote from Hillel that goes "What is hurtful to yourself do not unto others. That is the whole of the Torah. The rest is but commentary."

There are two Golden Rules that I know of, one the Christian one and the other the Jewish one.
The Christian one goes, "Do on to others as you would have them do on to you."
The Jewish one goes, "Don't do to others, that you would not wish they would do to you."
The Christian view is make rules to stop others and themselves from doing. The Jewish view is to not make rules on you that I don't want imposed on me. Small, but very different.

I am constantly hearing that statement. But I have yet to meet a Christian that has tried to impose his or her views on me. Even the little Jehovah's Witness ladies that knock on my door on Saturday mornings when I'm trying to get my groove on with my boyfriend. They knock, I answer, I say not interested, they wish me a great day and go along their merry Christian way.
Please, share your experience with me, so that I may better understand what you are talking about.

Christians believe it is their duty to spread the word of God and help lead others to Christ so that they (the people they witness to) can be saved from eternal damnation. No matter how silly it sounds to nonbelievers, we do it because we want to help people find happiness and eternal peace with God.

An addition to the question could be "and why do we care so much?", but I believe it's because they need constant affirmation because religious beliefs are so bizarrely unbelievable. If all my beliefs had been proven wrong by thousands of years of science and cultural progress, I would also argue constantly to drown all the facts from my mind.

I have my own thoughts and beliefs and don't like to be preached to but I have to admit that non believers are just as imposing to a fault - check out the religion and spirituality section if you don't believe me.

For the same reason I would impose upon a person by yelling at him to move out of the way of an oncoming truck!
If I see someone who is on a path to destruction, I gotta say something!
Jesus Christ, born of a virgin, died on the cross to save us from our sin, rose the third day to conquer death for us, ascended to heaven to prepare a place for us, and is coming back to get all who believe this.
Will you believe this?
Would you like to go with Jesus when He returns?

They really mean well: they want to save you from going to eternal dangnation. But they don't really believe it, or they would be much more insistent.. They would be raving in the streets if they really believed what they say. So that means, they do it just to be polite to Jesus, because they think they should in case some god-guy is looking over their shoulder.
