No people should not have to live there lives worried about what other people think. I did for a long time. Then I realized life is to short and if you always worry about what everyone thinks of you before you know it your life will be over live love and never regret. Have fun and live your life like there is no tomorrow.

To some extent yes because we as a society have created structures to maintain stability and continuity. If I am acting like a psychopath or anti-social nutbag then I would hope I would care what someone thinks of me PROVIDED they are trustworthy and don't have other AGENDA'S.
I believe you are trying to tie this into the whole "the world hates us" garbage.
Most of the world ISN'T trustworthy and has many other AGENDA'S besides my best interest so no, I don't GAS about the rest of the world.

interesting question;most answers will be "no".However,human nature is such that the majority of people look for the acceptance and approval of others,whether they admit it or not.
Those who go through life not worried about acceptance are usually diagnosed as a sociopath.
