I'm going to assume that you mean a warrior with a melée weapon, and just quietly ignore firearms and other missile weapons.
I would say yes, and that the person doing the beating would be a Huscarl. This was the term given to the élite warriors of Dark Age Britain, and denotes somebody who fought for a a living. They were heavily armoured, wearing long chainmail over a type of padding called a 'gambeson', and helmets; sometimes mail coifs (similar to a hood) as well. This would protect against the slashing blows of a samurai's blade very well, and certainly long enough for the Huscarl to defeat the samurai.
The weapon of choice would probably be a sword, a langseax (a type of long knife, used in a similar fashion to a sword), or a Daneaxe (think of a six-foot high axe, and you've got the general idea). Either the sword or the langseax should be able to penetrate a samurai's armour - both were sharp, and well suited to 'chopping' blows - or at the very least deliver enough crushing power to break bones.
As for the Daneaxe . . . there are eye-witness accounts of a single blow going through the shield, the chainmail and padding, the leg, and halfway through the horse the victim was riding. Similar weapons, such as the Lochaber axe, were still in use hundreds of years later, being used to take down people in plate armour. A samurai's armour would offer little protection against such a weapon.

The Japanese invasion of Korea (1592-1598) was ultimately unsuccessful. The Koreans, with Chinese help, prevailed by weight of numbers and by cutting the Japanese supply lines. Previously, the Mongol invasion of Japan in 1271 saw the invaders, Mongol mounted archers, mainly, inflict several severe defeats on the samurai before a storm scattered and wrecked the invasion fleet, ending the threat. So, yes, they were tough, but not unbeatable.

i'm gonna guess anything they haven't seen before they wouldn't know how to fight and would lose to at least at first.
a viking is just brute strength, and they've probably seen something like that before, so yeah they'd probably beat them.
an expert swordsman with a rapier is something else entirely, and they'd probably end up full of holes first.
ditto on ninja. that's what they're designed to do. samurai are more like knights. honorable with a code and a way of doing things. ninjas don't care, they'll kill you in your sleep (most likely with a string they lower from the ceiling and poison they pour on the the string slowly, which would travel the length of the string and drip into your mouth)

Any of the millions of men, women, or children who have an AK47 in the world today.
OK - that's a wise *** answer.
If you mean one on one with swords, you probably have the best swordsmen ever. And the samurai sword is premier swordcraft in my opinion - as a slashing/cutting weapon.
Interesting - Did you know you can't use the word "***" on this site? How terrible is that? I guess we have to use the word donkey for that particular four legged, load-bearing animal.
