See around when I was eight years old, I discovered that the man in my life was not my biological father, but merely just someone my mother had married. I want to know how I can find my biological father. His name is Robert Gardner. He lives in Memphis Tennesse. What do I need to do first in order to find out information about how I can find him. I know many of you will say that he is not going to want to want to be a part of my life. But I just have to see him or I know I will always wonder. Is there anyone who can help?

Do a search on line there are sites that claim they can find anyone, of course they charge a fee not sure how much... You never know dear he may want to see you to, hope you find what you're looking for good luck..

Well, to start with, you can go to the property tax appraisers website for Memphis and search the name, if he owns property it will show up. You probably need the name of the county that Memphis is in but you should be able to find that on Wikipedia or something. I believe there are on-line groups for people who are trying to find their birth parents. Google "find birth parents" or similar terms and see what you get.

If you have his social security number, and date and place of his birth that would be a big help. Your mother should at least know the last two.

If your mother was married to Mr. Gardner, go to the courthouse and look for copies of the marriage license and divorce decree. Courts keep that stuff forever.

Visit some websites on geneaology research. They often have tips on tracking people down whom you know very little about.

Good luck.

Look if you feel you need to hook up with your biological father then you need to sit down with your mother and tell her how you feel.I don't know how old you are now but if you want to get to know more about your biological father you need to talk to your mother.Asking things like was he a good man,Was he good to her, and why did he run and not be a man and stay with her.If your mother understands why you want to get to know him maybe she will help you get in touch with him.But remember that was a long time ago and things may have changed. He may have a life of his own with his own kids.Think about it would he welcome you with open arms or would his wife be upset that he has a daughter that he never told her about.

Well I would start with calling information for Memphis and see if he has a phone number. If there are multiple then call them all and have your questions already written out because you will be so excited to find him you will forget everything.

Go to People Search an look him up. See if yur mother remembers his parents names and town, it may be easier to look him up that way since old folks do not lrelocate as much and can be found on the white pages.

Good luck

Start online, look for him on the internet!
Call information with that name see how many listings there are for him, call them!
Ask your mom to help you, maybe she knows an old phone number, or a family member might know.
I wish you nothing but luck!
god bless!

Might I suggest that you don't refer to your step father as, "merely someone your mother married". It sounds like he accepted you as his own child and helped to raise you so he really is your father even if you both don't have the same blood running through your veins. Kids seem to walk all over their step-parents feelings. When a step parent accepts you as their own and helps raise a child that they were really not responsible for they deserve better than "just merely someone my mother married." And vice versa, a biological parent that doesn't raise you deserves NO respect (in my opinion).

You have the name of this person and the area in which he is living, check out the electorial role, as for that area, look up the name in general, there should be some sort of contact address reguarding this person. Electorial roles are usually at your local post shop, goodluck! Vote for Dad!

there are alot of sources out there that can help you start your search. If you think your mom has a clue as to where your dad is, I'd ask her. You have a right to know. It may upset your mom, but if you are an adult, she can't keep you from him anyways. Good luck in your search!
