Okay, I've been looking for a text about someone describing their passion so I can give it as a reading exams to my students, but I can't find anything I like. Would you please write a paragraph describing your passion, what you like about it, how did you start or discover it, who showed it to you, etc....

Don't worry about spelling, I'll correct. Thanks to all those who will participate. The more the better.

My passions lies in the Language Arts. You could say it has made me a VERBARIAN.

I love to read, and write. It is a means of expression and I love to express myself. My passions are life long and it started ever since I was a little toddler with my “Speak N’ Spell” and my creative writings in crayons on the living room walls. I got a spanking for that one, but even so, if I could not do it with crayons, an idle pen on my father’s oak desk soon found busy work on the walls of the Den. Little baby Red, was confined to a play pen after that. I grew up, weaned on Dr.Seuss, Jan and Stan Berenstain, and beginner’s books like Go Dogs Go! and my all time favorite “Are you my mother?” by P.D. Eastman . My parents and grandparents would read to me everynight before bedtime and in school, English teachers are always my favorite teachers, since they were funny, witty, compassionate and always challenge me to read more books from different authors, and write essays and paragraphs. ;-)

I am currently majoring in English at UCLA. I am there today, thanks to these passions, for it has allowed me to express myself vocally, verbally and in silence on a piece of paper. My emancipation of expressions and the fuel for my passions come from the many words and written works of great sages like Shel Silverstein, Roald Dahl, Mark Twain, Charles Dickens, Emily Bronte, William Shakespeare, Robert L. Stevenson, Thomas Moore, Jane Austin, JRR Tolkien, Thomas Harris, Stephen King, Robert Ludlum, J.K. Rowling and Ayn Rand to name a few.

Reading is entering into a special relationship with language. Writing is the expression of that special relationship. I hope that on cold rainy days, you will curl up with a good book or put a lonely pencil or pen to good use and be taken to caves filled with wonder and creamy snow covered mountian peaks, where the hills and pastures are green, and the sound of the wind as it rustle between the blades of grass can be heard, all under a clear blue sky and warm rays of the sun. Your imagination and creative thoughts are the only limits -- no director’s cut, no Hollywood special effects, and no one else's passion, but your own.

My passion is inventing. There's nothing I love more than seeing something in my mind that doesn't exist anywhere else in the entire world and then mentally/emotionally/physically dragging that thought into reality. And it could be anything really: a new type of food dish, a scribbled drawing on a scrap of paper, a physical invention or an abstract idea, a new word, a new color ...
It gives me a sense of pride when I can point to something and say, "That exists because of me." And of course, the other half of inventing is showing it off to all your friends.
I guess I've always been an inventor ... But I would have to say that I started with food. I would see all these recipes and say to myself, "Why am I letting someone else tell me how this should taste? I'm the one who's going to be eating it, I should get to decide what I put in it." So I would experiment and test, and sometimes it would be great and other times it would kill my tongue.
That's one of the best things about inventing ... As long as you don't give up, you will find what works. It just may take a while.

Ok, Miss T, I will try and live up to your high expectations, dear.

I am a truck driver, but I have not always been in that career field. After I graduated from high school, in 1975, I joined the U. S. Air Force. I served four years, and was honorably discharged.
I took a job as a draftsman, which at that time, was the only thing, I wanted in life. I was very good at my drawing, and after time, I became a designer. Having a good imagination, I was good at the job of tool designer. There was a drawback in this career choice, however. The job market was shakey and I got laid off, three times, over the next ten years.
That is when I decided that I was still young enough to make a career change. I decided on truck driving, which is a far cry from tool designing. I went to school, got a job with North American Van Lines, and was on my way. I then knew, I had found my passion. I always loved to drive, but as a trucker, it was awesome.
I found so much, as I traveled this great nation, and I knew that driving was the single most important thing that I wanted to do. I still drive to this day, and will continue to do so, as long as I can draw breath. That is my passion and it burns hot today.

Well, there ya go, Miss T. I do hope this will at least give ya something to go on. I know it might be boring to most, but you did ask. The Ryder's passion is the road. Rock On, Sweetie!

Dear Miss T,

I have always been fascinated with money, wealth, and the acquisition of both. I suppose I was influence by seeing movies such as WALLSTREET, and being Aussie and as the youngest of six children in the family, you have a lot of motivation to get out from under the shadows of your brothers and sisters.
I took accounting, economics, and business management courses while in University, afterwards to pay off my OSAP student loans, I worked for a short time as a financial advisor at Canada Trust, now called TD Canada Trust. But the job was stagnant and I wanted more, so I further my horizon by getting my MBA, which got me the job that I have today. I would recommend for those interested in an MBA to get one from a top ranked school. Because if you go to an unranked school. Your MBA will only help you in the local area you graduate and may only put $5,000 extra a year in your paycheck, but remember you will have wasted money on tuition and 2 years in getting the degree. So make sure to get into a recognized MBA program from a respected school, you will earn more.
By the way, if your goal is management at a good company, MBA is by all means the best choice, but if you want to work just in Finance (or even be a CFO), it will come easier with a Masters in Finance.

My passion for a lifetime has been reading. Once I learned that I could discover other worlds in books, stay current on news events and learn wisdom from people long since gone from this existence, I was hooked. When things seem too difficult to handle, I can lose myself in another time for awhile through reading, which makes my problems much more tolerable when I come back to them. Knowing I can teach myself about anything and anyone is also incredibly empowering and liberating.
Its no wonder I became a reading and English as a Second Language teacher, eh?

My passion is getting tattoos. I enjoy the whole process, from the first idea to the actual inking of my skin. Taking your idea and placing it on paper is the most exciting part. As your jumbled thoughts start to take place on your paper, you can play with how you want everything to work until you finally get it just right. Then there is the anticipation of going to the appointment to get the ink work done, which for me is usually anywhere from 2 weeks to 3 months depending on deployment, so the anticipation builds almost to the point of insanity. I started getting tattoos when I was just a lad, all of 14, with my friends and their homemade tattoo gun....quite painful, and from then on I was hooked. Now I have most of my body covered (no face, hands, feet, man parts) and am working on finishing my body suit sometime in early 08.

Hope this helps.

my passion is,animals!
especially stray animals and how we can help them!in Greece, there is a big problem with stray animals!people get pets and then tire of them or the pets pee in the house or ruin a new pair of shoes, and they take the pets and abandon them!
In 1995,they finally started a charity for stray animals,i became a member, cause a friend of mine had told me about it!then the first animal shelter was started!
the animals were in mud and the conditions were appalling!
i would go there and clean and feed, water and do whatever i could to help those poor creatures!
sometimes,i'd go just to pet them,so that they knew that not all people were bad,and i wanted them to feel some love!
we would find homes for some, but not all!
and i saw that there were more and more strays being kicked out on the streets!
so i decided to teach the children, how to love and care for the animals[i am a teacher]
i taught them that animals are not"dirty"full of germs that could kill you![some idiot people have this concept, especially the older generation]
i also showed them that animals are part of your family once you have one,and that animals DO have feelings!
it's a hard task,but i am seeing results!
right now,i am trying to get it into everybody's head that they have to fix their pets so that the population of pets goes down!
i have also made my passion,my students' passion cause i try to get them involved in helping out!
i pray that more people become aware of the problem and do what they can!
if people could just adopt a homeless animal and give them some love......

Singing is my passion. I love the way it makes me feel inside. I can express myself through song, whether it be happiness, sadness, longing or remorse. I began singing at an early age. Probably 3 or 4. Publicly I began to sing about 12. My family is pretty talented musically so I was introduced to music and singing by many of them. I now use my voice to show my appreciation to God as well as help others worship. I am greatful that my passion happens to be something that I am good at.

I hope that was good enough.

I love walking in every morning and having 100 kids come up and say good morning or give me a hug. My passion is art (drawing, water painting and animation). My love comes from my grade 7 Art Teacher Mr. Shawn McCaskey. He taught my class how to draw, how to put life and reality on to a flat piece of paper. He was the only Art Teacher to tell me that I had talent and encouraged me to practice, and build a porfolio in case I wanted to go to Art School, they would want to see my drawings. Now I am a member of the yearbook club in charge of arts and layouts for my high school and I spend my free time drawing caricature and cartoons. I get request from my friends, and teachers, and I often draw happy cheerful drawings. If I am sad, I will draw a happy background and then draw myself in there.Right now I love Japanese cartoons, also known as Animes. I do not have a preference, I currently enjoy watching Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, InuYasha, Magical Do-Re-Mi, and Mew Mew Power. I also download from the Internet, fan-subs of the episodes in Japan. I hope to learn some Japanese from watching these shows as well.
