I'll put my vote in for Rick Jeanneret, thanks. Chances are that anyone who is vaguely familiar with either Western New York or the NHL has heard at least one of his many famous calls. In no particular order, some of the RJ classics: "Jason Woolley! Jason Woolley! The shot heard round the world!" "This series is going back to where Jimmy Hoffa is!" "MAY DAY! MAY DAY! MAY DAY! MAY DAY!" "There have been more cheap shots in this game than in a Mexican cantina during Happy Hour!" "Milleeeeeeeerrrrrr stops him cold!" "Are you ready legion of doom?! Here come the Buffalo Sabres!" "Oh now do you believe?! Now do you believe?! These guys are good, scary good!" "And Pominville is going to have to open up a planned parenthood center!" "Call a cop! Biron robbed him blind!" "Chris Druuuuuury! Who else?! Who else?! Chris Drury has tied it at 1 with 7.7 seconds to go!" The man is a living legend. There are thousands of people who have never listened to or watched a Sabres game without hearing his voice. Some people hate him, but it's ok, they're just jealous that Buffalo has what RJ brings to the broadcast booth. If Lange does that for you guys in Pittsburgh, that's great and I hope he's as much fun and entertainment as RJ is for us, but to me RJ is still the icon of sports broadcasting greatness.

Gary Thorne from ESPN. He was easily the best play by play guy. We would still be able to hear him if Bettman wasn't a doosh and hockey was still on that network.

I do happen to like Gary Thorne, just because he gets really into it.
