Red - is hot, like fire

There is a movie called Mask that has Cher in it and the kid meets a girl that is blind (since birth) and he wants to show her what colors are like so he hands her a hot rock and tells her that is red. He gives her a cold rock and tells her that is green. I can't remember all the colors he does, but you should see the movie. I think he gives her cotton and tells her that is white (like a cloud).

You can go with classic connotations of major colors (red=blood, blue=sky, ect.) or you can use a mixture of scientific and poetic imagery.

Light is a wavelength like sound. It varies in intensity and frequency. The shape and size of an image is sort of like an instrument but the pitch and volume is like the color and brightness of the object or image. Red is like a trill or when very bright a scream. Blue is more like a hum or vibrato bass.

Black is cold and silent, white is like a full range. The light of the sun is light a blaring cacophony, a wall of sound similar to the ending of "A Day in The Life" by The Beatles.

If you've never heard that song before:

Describe colors like music, which blind people are usually very tuned into. Maybe play him some fiery, passionate classical music that invokes tones of emotion. Black can be the sound of thunderstorms, blue like the ocean, yellow= birds chirping etc. He will be able to relate that to one of his sharp senses!
