It seems like it. Although there are different media companies, they have to tell the same stories and fit within certain guidelines. I have heard this called "news judgment." It's not that they routinely check with each other, but they know what they have to do to get along. When one group deviates slightly (e.g. Fox News and talk radio) there are complaints and admonitions, but if it is within a certain range, it is tolerated. Beyond that, serious repercussions begin.
Of course, in the US at least, it is theoretically and actually possible for people to say anything they want to, independently of the "mainstream" media. The "mainstream" media are actually the companies that have acquired great wealth already.

NO... it's only the FOX NOISE CHANNEL that is the official propaganda organ of the Bush white house... the REST of the news channels TELL THE TRUTH.
