I want to know what to ask for when I go to the store... but I don't know what it's called!
It's a board (so to speak) that is usually covered in cloth and can come in different sizes, it has thing ribbon in a criss-cross patterns across the board and you put pictures in it...
does someone know what I mean?

Bulletin board. May I suggest making one yourself? I did, and it looks great and matches my decor. It's sooo easy. I got a regular board and fabric that I liked and glued it to the board (hot glue or spray glue will be fine) then I used coordinating ribbon and glued that on in a crisscross pattern. Remember to glue the ribbon only on the back of the board. Leave the front ribbon alone, so you can insert pics and stuff. Also, as an added touch I took a few old buttons and glued them on to the push pins (the flat ones) it added a nice touch. Have fun and use your imagination.

i think that is called a memory board.
try looking on bed bath and beyond or target.
probably in the section where you'd find college dorm decorations
