It is ok. Just supervise the cat when it is around the baby. You shouldn't need to get rid of it.
Cats are not dangerous to pregnant women. You should never change the cat litter when you are pregnant as there are germs which can cause birth defects. But it is ok for a pregnant woman to be around cats as long as someone else cleans the box.

OMG! i think of your roomate is being unreasonable. you are the perfect option to stand your floor. Cats do no longer take a toddlers breath away. That grew to become into all started some time past while cats might or won't have been licking milk from a toddlers mouth. i will assure you that your cat isn't a threat or wellness threat to the toddler now or later. I paintings in a veternarians place of work and in the final 2 years 5 workers have been pregnant and long gone finished term and nonetheless dealt with cats, canines rabbits and ferrits without hassle what so ever. What approximately you while the toddler cries all evening? truly you would be making sacrifices on your roommate. i think which you may desire to no longer supply up your puppy for everyone. there is not any rationalization for it.

Yes! it is fine. that is an old wives tale, and it makes me sick. So many people get rid of their beloved pets because of that stupid tale. If you don't believe me call your baby's pediatrician. Please don't get rid of your kitty. I have 4 children and the cats would even sleep in the crib with my babies. I guess it was a warm body and they liked it. Don't listen to that crap.

EDIT- Also, it's not the cat that is dangerous to pregnant women its the litter boxes. They could contain a germ called toxoplasmosis. A germ that could cause miscarriage or birth defects. It really bothers me that people are so uneducated about this. I have 5 cats and 4 children. What I did was bought doctors masks/ painters masks. I also wore gloves. Also make sure you wash your hands and arms thoroughly after cleaning the box. Or have your hubby do it.

It's fine. Just keep an eye on the cats at first. Cats like to snuggle and you don't want them up in the baby's face. Keep the baby's bedroom door shut at night as well.

I see no problem with a newborn being around cats unless you notice any problems w/ breathing , rashes, allergies etc .. or if the animal is acting as tho it may harm your child .. My daughter was around my mothers cats as a newborn and had no problems nor did the cats try harm her, they kept their distance , my son on the other hand my husband and i had to put our cats outside after he was born , he wasnt what i would call allergic but the cat hair / dander etc .. got to him and we noticed some wheezing and sneezing , i guess its better to be safe than sorry but its up to you and how your baby and cats all react ..

Don't evict your kitties.

We have two. They've been just fine around the baby.

Odds are that the cats will ignore the baby at first. Ours mostly did. Now, they like to stand guard during diaper changes.

Get rid of him or make him an outdoor cat. If hes a good cat give him a place downstairs or arrangements at family for awhile.
I thought cats were okay around kids til our kitten gave my 8 month old a teeny scratch and it was barely visible. I even cleaned it... he got superficial cellulitous from it which was a skin infection.
Doc told me cats are horrible for that and if your kid gets bit by kitty their flesh can rot because its worst animal to get bit by. no lie google it.
