Uh, they aren't even pronounced the same.
I doubt there's any etymological connection.
We believe all sorts of true things, such as this language I'm typing in is called 'English' and that I'm typing into the answer screen of Yahoo Answers, and that when I'm low on milk, I can walk to the Safeway store near my house and buy some more.

Ooooh... and why do you park in a drive way and drive on a park way!? It blows my MIND, man!!! With thousands and thousands of words using the same 26 letters, and L-I-E being three of the most common, it can't POSSIBLY be a coincidence.

Uh...duh...to some of these posters here.........they aren't concerned about the logistics of the "I" before "E" or vice versa.........geez. Some people should REALLY go back to reading books.....they MIGHT actually LEARN something!
