I guess like in any place of employment it is up to the employer to make those personnel decisions. Johnny Damon had to clean himself up to play in NY. I guess Red Sox management does not care. When Manny was in Cleveland, it was kind of interesting to see what he would come up with next. He had more hair style changes than Trump has coinage. He even came out with orange hair once. I do not care for the dreds, they do not look appealing in the least but it is not my decision and if I were a Boston fan all I would care about is that he hit and fielded the ball. They do look NASTY and wildlife may be hibernating within but think about this: had he been playing for NY the gnats would not have bothered him in the least. They would have gotten out of Joba Chamberlain's face and neck and migrated into Manny's hair, like a home away from home.

I think Manny is probably just too lazy to get a haircut. If he could grow a full beard, he would do it, but he just has little patches. Johnny Damon never liked to shave or get haircuts, he fit in well with the Red Sox. Not sure it's just a coincidence that when George made him shave and cut, his #'s went down.

Why are so interested in another man's haircut? Seriously, that's kinda' creepy.
I'm not a Sox fan (Jays forever) but here's what I think of when I see Manny:
490 homers
Career OBP of over .400
Powerful and effortless swing
Future first-ballot Hall of Famer
Here's what I don't think about:
Haircut
Fit of uniform
How his nails are done
Anything else to do with physical appearance.

Yes he should have to get rid of those. They have gotten in his way plenty of times making plays. For example against LA Angels in the post season this year. There was a hit out in left field and he ran to get the ball and his hat fell off his dumb head and got in his way causing the runner to get an extra base. That right there should make them tell him to get rid of the dreds.
His jersey looks like a damn night gown my grandma would wear.

He kind of looks like a black Jack Sparrow. It's a shame this guy's legacy will be tarnished by all of the stupid things he does on the field. The guy is an amazing hitter, but what a bone head.

Well as long as it does not hamper his ability to perform on the field I don't think Red Sox MGT cares much about his hair.
I agree I think that MLB players are professionals and they should look and dress (off the field) like professionals...
