While my answer may be bias because I am Catholic, I would have to say it is shrinking because of false values being portrayed to the public. People are growing up learning about sex and drugs and lie, cheating, stealing, swearing, ect. Since these values are frowned upon in the Bible, people are unwilling to follow. They dont want to be "held down" and are willing to break away from the church to do so. Others use science to back up their ideas, but they happenings are called miracles for a reason. Miracles happen everyday, and science still isnt able to explain most things.
I have a theory that this will all change eventually though. Things have a way of evening themselves out, and like the many Great Awakenings of the past, it seems like it should fall into pattern.
Keep believing in your values. Dont give into public opinion and continue living a moral and respectful life. In the end, you will be much better off.
(Im sorry about this argument disrupting the question, but it all comes back to fact that there are people who are unwilling to believe)

PS to "thatrips...": There have been people who prove all of the happenings in th Bible to be true. During the period of Jesus walking on water, it was simply an ice peice floating in the water. Because of the climate at the time, there was very cold weather, so it is possible. Plus, just because you dont think something could happen today (due to geographic and climatic conditions), dont think everything was the same back then. One cannot say it is a lie.
In response to your further comment, try ice. Ice is still technically water, and that is the relation to the climatic differences. Get real! (BTW I will try to find a website shortly describing the scientific proof. If I cant, look in Barnes and Noble under religion, there is a book that I was gonna buy that explains it all)
Further - I have found a website about the walking on water thing, but not on other biblical explanations. I will keep on looking though because I am also interested in learning more about my religion.

Did you not just look at the article? It clearly states that what was seen was an illusion. Technically he was still walking on water though, because ice and water are made up of the same molecules.

I read the Time magazine article, which was pretty interesting. If I were to guess, I would say that the impact of the Religious Right in politics has probably played in a role. It looks like relatively no one has an ill feelings toward the church itself. However, the Religious Right's movement into political matters about 30 years ago has caused some image problems. If homosexuals consist of 10 percent of the nation's population, that's a pretty big group to be alienated from a segment of Christians. The pro-choice group is a bigger percentage.
Now, this is merely talking about America. Worldwide, which some other articles discuss, is a different story. Some anti-American sentiment is running around the globe, and America is closely associated with Christian values (look at the President, for starters). It's geting tough to be a minority Christian in several places -- Jerusalem, just as an example.

i think of there are greater human beings born in non-Christian international places like India, China, and so on. i think of there is a few shrinking because of the fact anyone is being referred to as into action and don't have "the entire Armor of God" on and this is too uncomfortable or threatening to their way of life. greater in many cases occurring jobs. element is i think of the religion of the lively, partaking, actual Christians is better regardless of if numbers are much less. Are you acquainted with the extensive Christian churches in South Korea? they could be the subsequent to led us into conflict.

Basically it is all a big con. Who would believe anything written 2 thousand years ago and not think, like Chinese whispers, that it has been changed a thousand times. Deep down somewhere there might be a grain of truth but all that walking on water, etc, etc, never happened.
TO nohand.....who are these people who have proved the truth of it all, give me names and addresses. Who mentioned anything about climatic stuff. I never gave that a thought. It is just not possible for a person to walk on WATER.
"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""
Why not say ice then....its all a load of tosh, changed and changed throughout the years. Just like Chinese whispers.
