As the nukes are falling on us from Iran, China and North Korea. Would you want some lawyer flipping through their book to determine if it is legal to respond, as we're getting wiped off the face of the earth? Or would you want someone willing to stand up with military experience (such as McCain) to respond and ask questions later?
Those nations above don't respect women anyway, so there's no way they'll respect a woman president. (not to be a bigot, but it's the cold, hard, truth)

Two options -- you can either have someone who understands the law -- or someone who has to ask someone else what the law says.

And yes -- I would absolutely want any president to find out if an action is legal before taking it -- unlike our current Commander in Sheik who breaks laws any time he wants...

Because the first and most important duty of the President as defined in the Constitution is to see that the laws are faithfully executed -- which someone cannot do if they don't understand the laws, let alone if they just ignore the law.

As for the "bombs dropping" scenario -- there are several thousands steps that usually lead up to that point, and someone acting based on machismo or arrogance is much more likely to CAUSE a conflict than someone who understands and follows the law.

That all being said -- nobody is going to be flipping through lawbooks if an attack has already happened -- because if the attack has happened, a lawyer (better than anyone else) is going to know that self-defense is a valid option.

It really depends on who the lawyer is. I would rather have someone with military experience as a General, but there isn't one this time around. It depends on the situation as far as respond and ask questions later. I really don't care if other nations will respect a female President or not, they don't respect Bush, so what's the difference.

Twenty five of our 43 presidents have been lawyers including Jefferson, Jackson, Lincoln, Wilson and FDR. They didn't have a problem with using the military effectively.

Iran, China and North Korea don't respect Christians either. Does that mean we shouldn't have a Christian president?

President Obama is the perfect president in view that JFK by skill of far. His 'marks' on his way by way of his training might desire to probably be surprising, yet no longer a be counted for public intake, thinking he has exceeded the attempt to grow to be president. perhaps ALL skill presidents might desire to have a point of defined training to additionally be eligible to run for the place of work. This, metaphorically speaking, of path, could only have saved Bush 40 3 out of it and boy oh boy could that have been great, thinking the undesirable 8 years the u . s . a . had to go through below his presidency. My opinion - i'm entitled to it.

Who died and appointed you as the truth bearer? Having a war monger is what have us in this mess in the first place. Nuclear power and anti-USA hatred proliferated at a rate of 1000% with this imbecile we have for president. THE COLD HARD TRUTH is that you are a moron with bellicose ideas who thinks that bullying the entire world is the solution to every problem. Your "macho", arrogant attitude, which prevails much around the country, is one of the many reasons the world hates us. It time to put a known diplomatic, softer and waaaaaaay more intelligent image in the White House.

Since the president's JOB, as set forth in his oath of office, is defined as faithfully executing the laws, and following the Constitution, it would certainly seem that being a lawyer would help qualify someone to be president. And some of our best presidents have been lawyers. Based on George Bush's performance, the one profession we probably ought to be wary of is businessmen.

When does having military experience qualify a person for The Presidency? Heck, McCain flew planes----he didn't lead troops.

The three biggest war-time leaders in U.S. history was Lincoln, Wilson, and Roosevelt, and if you don't count Lincoln's period of time in The Black Hawk War (where he never saw combat), none of them had military experience.

However, I agree with you on Hilliary. When themajor problems of our day is in an area of the world where the population has no respect for women, we don't need a flip-flopping woman President.

Frank---read what I wrote. I said Lincoln was a leader during one of our biggest wars (Lincoln--Civil War, Wilson---WWI, Roosevelt---WWII). Yea, Nixon was President during Vietnam (not one of out three biggest wars, and Carter was President during that fiasco of the Iranian hostage rescue. But you also forgot to mention Kennedy and Johnson during your critique of my answer; both served in WWII.
