why was the theme sang by someone who sounded about 45, far to young to be a O.A.P.

You do not have to be of the age to sing a song. The Beatles sang about being 64 when they were in their twenties.
Incidentaly, the word is SUNG not sang. I do wish people on here would get their grammar right.

It was sung by Eric Idle and he is 64 now so he was;nt that young
