Nothing wrong with the name, but I have an unusual name and am now 31 yrs old and wishing my parents never ever chose it. It's not the fact that it's different, but that he will spend his life having to spell it out for people, think phonecalls, jobs or any customer service related enquiry he makes.
It's all very well people saying, "oh, blaise, what an unusual name, where did it come from?" but when you've spelt it out for people and explained its origin about one million times, as I have, it gets more than a little tedious. I'm talking from personal experience but it's just my opinion, I never let anyone sway my choice of name for my son, and I was looking for a Catholic saint's name too for my boy - daniel was what I chose in the end. Let us know what you settle on!

Well take a good look at your kid when he's born and see if he fits the name, Have a few backup names ready just in case he doesn't fit. I would caution on the name Blaise you might think of the other connotations the name has such as Blah zay... french or something. But really it's your Kid, and don't let him be known as "Baby Boy" on his birth cert for the first 5 years of his life like I was.

I like the idea of using biblical names. I think that Blaise is a great name for an adult. But since kids can be so cruel, do you think it would be a tough playground name to endure?
Just a thought

I'm neutral. I think most people will be inclined to pronounce it Blaize instead of Blaise.

I like it, but I might be biased because I know a little boy named Blaise.

It's okay,a bit bland. For some reason it made me think of a chef,or cooking. But if you put it with a good nickname it just might work out.
