I think Ellen should of been MATURE enough to come on her show and talk about the mistake that she had made about giving the puppy that she adopted away to her hair-dresser and family. She broke the agreement when she did this, and was suppose to contact the adoption people before doing so. Who does she think she is to try and change something that was in an agreement? So what if she spent $3,000.00 dollars for training etc. for this puppy! That is just a drop in the bucket to her. If she is so concerned about how much money she spent, then she has a problem for sure. Ellen should come on her show and tell everyone how wrong she was instead of crying like a baby and stomping here feet to get her way. She owes these people an apology as she is the cause of hateful emails and phone calls to them. They have been threatened with death and arson. If something happens to these people I sure hope they SUE the heck out of her for millions of dollars!

You're right, she owes those people an apology! I just saw that someone here at Yahoo Answers actually posted the Mutts & Moms phone number urging people to call and harass them!

C'mon, we all have to follow the rules. Every place that I've ever adopted a dog had rules like that so it's not like they're singling her out.

Those rules are created for the safety and well-being of the animals! Who is looking out for the pup's welfare? Ellen? I don't think so! I already heard the hairdresser already had a grown dog so it's not like the pup was going to where he'd be the center of attention and what if that other dog gets jealous and chews up the pup?

But "Oooh, I'm Ellen DeGeneres and the rules shouldn't apply to me, boo-hoo!" so the story is splashed all over the Net, on the radio and TV. Gimme' a break!

If she didn't want the pup because he was too 'rambunctious' and energetic, then she obviously doesn't know much about pups. That's their trademark!

Oh, don't get me started....

Ellen wasn't complaining about the money she spent, she was just trying to state that this wasn't a decision she made lightly. It is sad that the adoption place is getting hate mail but as someone who has experience with these adoption places knows, they can and do have a tendency to go overboard.

I tell people all the time it's better to adopt a mutt than buy a moron/in bred dog but if you have children - they just don't bother and immediately tell you NO!!!. I remember when I tried to adopt a cat they wanted me to sign a form stating I would never let the cat out (along with a bunch of other moronic things)- now that's just plain stupid and mean to do to any animal.

She also did not stomp on the floor and throw a tantrum, she felt horribly guilty that she inflicted this pain upon two innocent girls.

I think it was about time that it came to light that these adoption places are not at all trying to place animals because they make so many rules that no human can live by let alone an animal.

Ellen DID apologize and admit she was wrong to give the dog away without contacting the agency. From what I read on MSN TV, it was PORTIA who actually signed the papers for the dog. And while I agree the agency had a right to be upset that the rules were not strictly followed, I also believe that the ladies who run the agency are also partly responsible for the bad press they are receiving. And instead of admitting they were hasty in their decision, they chose to blame everything on Ellen and her fame. Ellen did not tell her fans to call and e-mail hateful things to the agency. She is NOT responsible for anyone else's actions. Therefore, a lawsuit of that nature would just be ridiculous. And to say that $3000 is just a drop in the bucket for her was completely uncalled for. I don't believe the money was the main concern here. She made a mistake, apologized for it, and is trying to make amends. Just my opinion...

When Ellen gave the dog away, she thought she was doing the right thing, and it shows that she didn't know she wasn't allowed to give the dog away because when the agency called to check on the dog she told them all about giving the dog away, her only error was not properly reading ALL the paperwork, which I'm sure a lot of us are guilty of. People calling and making death threats and arson threats are their own stupidity, ellen has no control over others actions, she simply felt TERRIBLE for the misunderstanding and was pleading for them to give the dog back. Now the agency says that they have strict rules not to adopt a dog to a family with a child under the age of 14, for the saftey of the dog. So they won't give the dog back, even if the family goes in to adopt it themselves. To me it's a ridiculus rule, why the age 14? They're are plenty of household around that have dogs in them and children of ALL ages and no problems. If someone is going to harm a dog, they can do it at any age.

Ellen admitted to not reading the entire contract so I think it was an honest mistake own her part. She did place the dog with a family instead of abandoning it or taking it to a shelter. The agency has rules about dogs being placed in homes with children under a certain age and that's why they took the dog back.

Yes Ellen made the error, she should have went to the shelter and explained the situation, if they were reasonable something probably could have been worked out. Their aim is to get good homes for these animals, which is what would happen but she broke the rules. The shelter will suffer, the girls that wanted the dog and maybe the dog. Hopefully Ellen will butt out, the family can go to the shelter and hopefuly it will work out.

i dont understand how an orginization that claims to care about animals just rip the dog away from a family hes bonded with he will be caged and treated like crap compared to the way he was being treated ellen wasnt complaining about the money just making a point of how much she did and really tried to keep him i would have done the same thing and i think most of us are guilty of not reading all the fine print if moms and mutts really cared they could have made arrangements to interview the family then made a decision it was so wrong what they did give iggy back is what i say!

I totaly agree with you. Moms and Mutts had every right to do what they did. They were only looking out for the best of the puppy. And even though "it was an honest mistake" Ellen broke the contract, which stated that Moms and Mutts only adopt to people who have kids 14 and older. And there is a reason for that! Ellen was wrong for going public with this matter especailly on her tv show! the nerve of her! to blast a non-profit organization on national television, for doing what they HAD to do! Moms and Mutts have this policy to protect dogs and puppies because little kids, who tend to be younger than 14 years old, are not mature enough to understand the responsibilities of taking care of a dog..... not just playing with him, im talking about CARING for it. A dog needs love and care which includes vet care, gooming, cleaning poop area daily, walking (exercise), fresh food and water... aways, training, etc. all the things youger KIDS usually neglect. Moms Mutts are looking out for these dogs by having this policy, they dont know you or your family, your values, morals, or how you teach your kids, all they know is that they need owners are all at an age to understand that these puppies are not toys, or "just dogs" they are somebody's family member, somebody's companion, They are sombody's best friend! and if you cannot give this animal 100% love and care as so........ then you he needs to go to a family who can..... i under stand that these are little girls that were talking about here but common really...... they are little girls!!! They can barely wipe their booty!! let alone be responsible enough to take care of that puppy. Besides they only had Iggy for 2 weeks! 2 weeks!!!! Ellen shouldnt try to use her money or "power" to throw a PITTY PARTY like a lil girl to get what she wants! YOU GO MOMS and MUTTS!! i admire them for doing what is right for the PUPPY!
Love and care for your animals they need you!!!

P.S. Dog are also not experiments and not a method of teaching your kids responsibility! in that case get them A GOLDFISH!!!

Yes she should have called the agency but she gave the puppy away to a good family who would provide it a good home. She spent all that money on the dog, they should have left it where it was. It is hard enough to place unwanted dogs, and these people wanted it and were giving it a good home. If they aren't going to return the dog, they should give Ellen the money back she spent.

I feel that Ellen was right for her plea for help. It should not be about who is write and who is wrong. It is about letting the dog stay in loving and caring home. I adopted a cat, and when your in that state of mind, you just believe what they tell and sign by the "x". It is in extremly tiny print about them being able to take the animal back. I totally disagree with how the adoption agency handeled the sitiuation, it was wrong and cruel. They need to rethink thier way of business and remember the real reason they got into the business to start. More power to Ellen for justifying herself!
