Here is the current state of play:

There are a few scenarios. England need Russia to at least draw a game. If they do England need to win their last game (at home to Croatia). If Russia lose either of there last 2 games (Away to Israel and away to Andorra - they should beat Andorra easily) then England could draw their last game. It is highly unlikely Russia will not beat Andorra but if they did not and lost or drew with Israel then England are through no matter what happened in their last game to Croatia. If it does end up with England and Russia on the same points then England would qualify as the results in the two games would go in their favour (3-0 and 1-2 (4-2 on aggregate)
Israel cannot qualify as the best they can do is finish on the same points as England (and as England beat them and then drew with them England would go through)
So I guess if you are an English fan then you want Israel to win against Russia on the 17th November (they drew 1-1 in Russia).

Well i really did think that England footballers lacked real guts , courage and detrimination of the England rugby World Cup team.Instead of building on the 1-0 lead they had ,they decided they had done enough and sat back and invited the Russians to launch wave after wave of attack upon them.
When will they ever learn that its dangerous to defend a 1-0 lead. They really should have gone out to get the second goal, and Gerrad's miss when he was about 5 yards from the goal is so unforgivable at this level, because at 2-0 the game would have been won for England with only about 16 mins to go.I just cant see England even beating their lasts opponents, group leaders Croatia.
Their qualifcation hopes for Euro 2008 are between slim and none- and slim is out of town.
To be honest i have a better chance of being pope.

Let's face it; Russia are going to beat Andorra. I could put a pub-side together that would beat those muppets, they're ****.
Consequently, it all hinges on the Israel game at the beggining of next month in Tel Aviv. If Russia lose or draw that game England can still qualify if they beat Croatia, fortunately played at Wembley where every seat will be filled with beer swiggin', foul-mouthed Englishmen.
The victory against Croatia is also gonna be difficult but not impossible as Croatia have already qualified and wont really give 100% as club football will be in full swing and they wouldn't want to risk injury for what, apart from pride, will be merely a training/character building exercise.

yes, israel have to beat russia and england need to win there next game but if israel lose to russia then andorra need to beat russia for england to qualify. take robinson out of the england squad bring james back james has showed in the premier league that he deserves the number 1 spot also england dont have a striker that is scoring more than 20 goals a season i say. No, I do not think we will qualify looking at Russia last night who just simply wanted more than us, they will take the fight to their last two games becuase they know its their hands. But simply put we didn't qualify a few games ago, and if we did we would be sent home spanked. And who in there minds thinks its a good idea for forwards to come back and defend like rooney and owen, ah yeah the manager, get rid now should never of had the job, it took Becks to save him last time, this time he's run out of luck...JOSE for the job then we will see a team full of very very good individuals playing like a world beating team.

The only way England can qualify is by Russia being disqualified from the competition. They will not lose or draw to Israel, so it's basically bye bye England.

if macedonia beats croatia and england beats croatia, they would end up with tie scores. they need to beat croatia with net 3 goals to be ahead of croatia on the group match table.

so that's the tough way to go.....

as to russia, they win both their games, they advance. if not, england goes through. england has no control over it.

russia vs israel would be the game to watch for the english fans. i mean andorra hasn't won or , at least, tied a game. even the US team can beat them. so russia will walk all over them for their last match.
