I had the check done after six months, and it was clean. I still continued to use condoms for almost a year after my vasectomy. I still use them with new partners, and I only date women that can't get pregnant anyway, because I can't have kids.
I had one of the "traditional vasectomies" (the type that has been around for 100 years). If he got one of those new "quicker" vasectomies, like the "clip" or "open ended", etc, the failure rate is pretty high.

It is a good idea to get the sperm checked a couple of weeks after the vasectomy to see if the operation was successful and there are no sperm left in the tubes, but after 3 months there should not be any if the operation was successful. There is a very small failure rate in vasectomies where the tubes were not tied properly I think.

Usually after 4 weeks you go in and make sure the vasectomy worked. Yes you indeed might be pregnant because for some reason the operation didn't go right, he naturally healed, or whatever the cases may be. Don't know what method they used to do the vasectomy.
You might want to have him go in and get checked for peace of mind or wait two weeks and take a home pregnancy test or get a blood test.
Stress, diet, exercise, medications and hormone changes can all affect your period as well.

A vasectomy does not kill sperm... See Wikipedia or WebMD for what a vasectomy is if you do not know. If you did not go back for a semen analysis there is no way to tell if it worked or not. By the way, the semen analysis would have looked for the absence of sperm - not dead sperm.... Yes, if the vasectomy did not work, you could be pregnant.... You may want to take a test....

Well look at some factors; How old are you? How late are you? Have you been stressing? Have you engaged in sexual intercourse with someone else? If none of these are the issues, then you MIGHT be pregnant...according to wikipedia:
"Early failure rates, i.e. pregnancy within a few months after vasectomy, are below 1%, but the effectiveness of the operation and rates of complications vary with the level of experience of the surgeon performing the operation and the surgical technique used.
Although late failure, i.e. pregnancy after recanalization of the vasa deferentia, is very rare, it has been documented"..
Hope this helps...Good Luck!

This is not true, actually a girlfriend of mind just found out that she is pregnant and her husband had a vasectomy approx. 4 months ago. He must get checked, the vasectomy may not have taken. There is several reasons why he must keep his follow up appointments. Good Luck!!

Boy are you in trouble. I had a baby because of the same thing happening. The doctor "forgot" to tell my husband to come back and get tested afterwards. We had no idea that this could happen. After I went in and had an examine and a pap test, I found out I was 3 months pregnant. We found out he goofed and forgot to tell us he had to come back for a sperm count, and we were also told we should have used protection up until one year after the proceedure was done.
I do not know why Yahzmin was given a thumbs down. My mom got pregnant after having her tubes tied also. I have a brother to prove it.

This is not true
the reason for the testing 3 months later is to make sure the surgery has done what is was meant to do and has stopped the sperm producing
You could very well be pregnant
Do a test
Good luck

When my ex-husband had his vasectomy, the doctor told us he had to ejaculate at least 15 times before all the sperm were gone. We didn't do it either and surprise!! I ended up pregnant. Take a pregnancy test just for your own peace of mind.

foolhardy...all you have to do is take a sample in and you could be sure you were safe. if he hasnt, well emptied the pipes, it is possible that there can be some residual sperm left the first few times you ejaculate. also things go wrong sometimes and until it has been confirmed, you need to assume he is still fertile.
