I like Neko for a boy. Just give him a different middle name & like u said hell have a different last name too, so he wouldn't be a Jr. I don' t like LaNeko though. It sound too "made up" to me. Sorry. :(
Here are some other girl name suggestions:
Nekia (nah-kee-yah)
Nekiya (nah-kye-yah)
Neah (Nee-ah)
Nela (nee-lah or nay-lah)
Nekari (nee-kah-ree)
Good luck with ur name search & congrats!!! =)

LaNeko woud definitely be better for a girl. I think that you could use Neko for his middle name. (That's what my family did,I got the girl's version of my father's name for my middle name,my sister got my mom's name as her middle name).
I'm sorry,I don't know any names that are similar,I'd never even heard of the name Neko before today...but Laneko is pretty.
Here's some boy's names (sorry if they bear no resemblance to Neko) :
Adam
Aiden
Ben
Binyamin
Cameron
Carson
Chayton
Christopher
Cody
Dylan
Ian
Jacen
Jack
Jacob
Jake
Jason
Jonathan
Luke
Michael
Radek
Robert
Ronon
Timothy
Wyatt

LaNeko? uuhhh nnnnnno that just doesnt float for a girl. If you want to use the fathers name somehow, how bout NEKOLETTE? like Nicholette, but spelled the same as his? thats cute, no? And for a boy why not Neko, there nothing wrong with him being a Jr. ........ the closest thing would just be NICK in my book
Gowith whatever feels right for your baby. your the mommy and im sure you will know when you have found the right name! good luck and congrats!

LaNeko sounds like a LaFreako. 2 CAPs in one name, is weird.
Id just go with Neka. I think theres a singer out there a Neka Case, maybe even Niko. I forget.
Oh its Neko Case! just googled it.
Uh-oh - it just might gain in popularity too, since their doing a tv show on 4 Blondes, and Nico is a character in that. Same writer as Sex in the City.

Neko makes me think of those little wafer candies (I know they're spelled Necco but still . . .) and I would NOT name a child anything that starts with "La". That's just mean.

I like the name Neka and that would still be good since it's just a more feminine version of your boyfriend's name.

I can see LaNeko a boy's name more. Neko is very masculine in my view.

I once knew a girl named Niko. I don't particularly like "La" names, but if you like it, it's your baby.

I think Neko alone is cute. Did you know that Neko is Japanese for "cat"?
