my mom did that as well she has a 2007 mercadies and she bought a 2005 Jeep Grand Charokee the difference is that the jeep is paid off and the Benz isnt and with newer cars if you go over a certain amount of Kilometers you have to pay for each km after that which may be more expensive than buying a car..

Yes in a way it does your Mom wants to save the miles on her truck for trade in value the car gets her to where she needs to go and saves the miles for future trade in value.

It depends on how much she spent for the used car. My boyfriend has a nice expensive sports car, and he bought a cheap $500 p.o.s to drive to and from work during the week. It's saves her new truck from less wear and tear of every day driving.

The only way it would make sense is if the used car cost less than what it will cost her for the extra miles on the newer truck. I highly doubt it, so no, it doesn't make sense!

Yeah... seems like she wants to save the newer tires in her truck too.

makes sense. The price of gas is the difference. She could be actually spending less money a month by driving the fuel efficient car than the gas guzzling truck.

Not necessarly - if your moms truck is leased and she has a limitation on how many miles she cn put on it. She could be charged for overage. Many people do what your mom did if their vehicle is very expensive and they want to keep it around longer.

We do that so we can park the good vehicle for the winter and let the salt eat the old car. But not to keep the mileage down , thats goofy

kinda she bought the car so that she could use the miles on her car and save the ones on her newer truck?

that makes no sense at all. she should just use the truck until you don't want it anymore. then buy a new car. that was a waste of money
