Also, do you believe in the prophecy/legend that your church will help elect a President that will restore our Constitution?

akha1985 - If you research Ezra Taft Benson a little he vindicates a lot of what Ron Paul says about the Constitution today. I am disappointed in Romney's declaration that "I would go to my lawyers" before striking Iran...in the last debate. Ron Paul has more morality than any of the other candidates, and speaks the truth quite often. lds4ronpaul dot com

I am LDS, and (as I think you know) I support Ron Paul. The most concise reason that I have come up for is this. Politics are bad. I don't want politics influencing my life. Ron Paul is the only candidate who offers even any rhetoric (much less backed by his record!) to reduce the burden of government on me.

A quick anecdote about Romney: He reminds me of a former member of our stake presidency [1]. The guy was well respected until he fled federal authorities because he was wanted for fraud and tax evasion. My point is that it is naive to think that a person has a good character just because he has been a high ranking official in my church [2]. Indeed like you, many of Romney's actions and words make me seriously question his character.

On the prophecy that you allude to, it says nothing of electing a president. Attributed to Joseph Smith, here is the actual text:

"Even this nation will be on the very verge of crumbling to pieces and tumbling to the ground; and when the Constitution is upon the brink of ruin, this people will be the staff upon which the nation shall lean; and they shall bear the constitution away from the very verge of destruction." [3]

If you read further in the referenced link, you'll see that it seems more that members of the church will uphold constitutional principals even when others have ceased to do so. Electing one of its members to wield unconstitutional powers (as Romney practically promises to do) is hardly upholding constitutional principals.

Thanks for the question. This is one that I have to work on. I have an uphill battle with some of my Mormon friends and family.

I am torn by this actually. I have always loved Senator John McCain. But then now we have Romney in the mix. I think either of them would be good candidates. Although I still support McCain more. Mainly because he is an Ex-POW. And that has a lot of weight right now, for me. We need someone like that in power who can help us get our troops home safely.

I do not support any democrat that is running. None of them have shown any morals or integrity.

I have not decided. I have only elimated one candidate.. Hillary.

I don't believe the concept is that the Constitution will be "restored", but that when it is hanging by a thread, a member of the Church will save it.

none of the people running will be worth a crap,,,,they are rich,, most never even had a working job in their entire life,,, they have no ideal,, what working men and women need.
they ride around in limosines,, get 400 dollar haircuts,,have servants to do everything, and want to tell us how to live,,,

we need someone with common sense,,,and willing to work hard,,, not a power hungry slob,,,,,,,,ive been very aware and around a few,,,,,,,,,,in our area, like our former vice president, he was a rich kid,, grown up in washington,,,
