I couldn't find this on search. I know opening someone else's mail (not e-mail) is a federal offense but i want to know what happens next? I had a package that was supposed to be delivered to me and it was tracked and someone else signed for it but they haven't returned it to my address i'm not sure if they opened it or not i just want my package back untouched.

You can be charged with mail tampering and then you will end up in a Federal Court instead of just a local criminal court.

I do it all the time, no big deal. Other peoples mail is more fun to read than mine. Plus I don't give a s h i t about their bills.
Just kidding. LOL

You can be prosecuted for stealing the mail. Once you open it (aside from just taking it) you have committed theft. Don't do it.

Call your local post office and ask for the postal inspection service. They'll know.
