My husband gives the phone to one of the kids. They love to talk on the phone.

I like your husband's idea.
I used to be polite but now I've gotten to the point where I am not. I have had so many of them get angry and abusive when I don't want to buy their products or call in the middle of the night because of automated calling that I just hang up on them. We're on the do not call registry so if they call now, I report them.

As much as I LOVE the idea of giving the phone to the kids, I used to work for a telemarketing firm (felt like a prostitute....HATED IT and quit!) ANYWAY, I sat next to a guy who regularly cussed at the people he called. He called women b*tches and used a lot of other nasty words.

While it's true that in a GOOD world, the telemarketers would talk to the kids nicely, thinking that eventually they could get back with the parents, the truth is there are too many idiots with absolutely no morals, and those types of people are probably going to end up talking with your kids and teaching them words you don't want them learning.

That being said, I am never rude, I just hang up. Best of luck!

Depends on the mood...but usually I give the phone to my kids too! When they're little & love the phone alot it's great! Now that they're older they think it's fun to make stuff up & try out their sarcasm skills, like, "NO MOMMY & DADDY are humping right now" (my 11 year old) OR "I don't have friends, will you come play with me?" (my 7 year old) Keeps them busy for a while & usually I get a good laugh!

Hang up. I'll usually give them a few sentences, to be srue it's a telemarketer and not somethign I actually need to hear; but then I just cut them off.

If the mood strikes me and I have the time, I'll mess with them. One time, I convinced the poor shlub that he had just called a murder scene, that I was the homicide detective, and he was going to be investigated for his "relationship" with the deceased.

If a telemarketer makes it past my "Do Not Call" flag on my phone number, and makes it past my caller ID - call block, then I simply tell the joker. "I do not deal with telemarketers. Take my number off your list. Thank you."

And THEN I hang up.

I am polite. I have to do a lot of calling for my job, so I naturally feel sorry for them. Phone work is a hard job.

I am on the do not call list and I don't answer the phone at home. If you need me leave a message.

Caller ID keeps me from even having to pick up the phone! No problem!

That depends on what the tmarketer has interrupted. Usually I just hang up but sometimes I goof on them pretty hard.
