Republicans are just people who don't want to be robbed of what we have lawfully earned to pay for things we don't want. For the most part, this is called being "normal."

They really are and it's not just related to politics.
They are also spineless and hateful. They twist and manipulate the facts. I believe they cause more problems.
There are exceptions and thank God for that.
Liberals and democrats address the problems created by republicans and society. Education, healthcare, nutrition, and conservation solve problems and help everyone. Why do Republicans always want to go the to each his or her own way??? Is it no wonder there are so many fast food restaurants and people are fatter? Is it no wonder that illegals are finding jobs here? Look at Wal-Mart. Think they are liberal? I love how they are trying to change their image with propaganda and lies. They cost taxpayers more because they cheat the system. They are not dumb. They have no soul.

Wow!! Generalize much?
My parents, life-long Republicans who are active enough in the party to be invited to Inaugurations, were honored by our local United Way for their volunteer work in our community.
My brothers, also staunch conservatives, have all been volunteering with different organizations since HS.
I am fortunate enough to have summers off, and I spend the greater part of my summers volunteering with local kids groups.
So if that means "greedy and selfish" to you, then yes.
Edit - Hey, D - guess what? Some of us actually use guns for hunting. You certainly don't have the right to tell me I have to buy beef at a store. The NRA has VERY little to do with my conservative beliefs.

I think it just seems like that when it comes to politics because they don't always promote bills and policies that just give things to the people. It's long been known the party's members stand by hard work and earning your way in the world, which is contrary to giving handouts. You could argue we're spending a lot of money on a war, and you'd be right. You could argue that Democrats want to spend that money on us. I can understand people thinking the Democratic argument is better, it does appear better. But appearances can be deceiving. Surely encouraging a population not to be able to take care of itself, and taxing them to the extent it stifles the economy doesn't appear 'better'. The problem is the simple Democratic argument is easy to understand, whereas the all encompassing conservative argument is not. It requires critical thought and research, two things which are rarely welcome amongst the general population when discussing politics.

I have respect for conservatives and republicans when they say things that are logical and do not go against scientific facts. Unfortunately, the ones that get the most press seem to me pretty much like cult members with a large following. They are still trying to knock global warming, Al Gore, etc... I think mainstream America finds this embarrassing.

Neither. That's an amusing question considering it's usually the Republicans that are not increasing taxes and asking for tax-payer money. Some how not demanding more money is greedy.

Teresa Heinz was a registered Republican for most of her life until she married Lurch.
Her philanthropy was world renowned. Not since being married to Kerry and becoming a Democrat though. She used to be married to U.S. Senator H. John Heinz III and did a lot for the Urban Centers of Pa.
Not anymore, at least not as much. Kerry put her in a trance and took John's money.

Wow Edge, tell it like it is, why don't you? lol wait for the fall out on this one.
I'm trying to be nice. I think the idea originally was morals, values and fiscal responsibility, but add the dysfunctional element that has plagued society over the years, coupled with the "fear of everything" issue and maintaining the status quo and you'll find that those original ideas have been warped into something it was not originally intended to be. The whole concept of helping others somehow became "helping someone else as long as it benefits me & mine" I've asked it before, I'll say it again, who benefits from welfare? Certainly not the people who are on it. As many have pointed out here, there is no incentive to improve yourself while you are on welfare....but there is big money to be made at the top in the welfare offices, as long as we "maintain the status quo" Someone might actually have to give something up to improve the lives of all.
IMHO

The democrats raise INCOME TAXES, for the poor and needy people while growing government. The republicans raise HIDDEN TAXES( GAS, HIGHER STATE TAX BURDENS) for bombs and business profits, while growing government debt as well.
BOTH know they are right, just ask them...................
