Princess Diana - embraced AIDS patients, lessening the stigma
Mother Theresa - focused the world on the suffering of the poor
Margaret Sanger - promoted birth control and safe methods
Upton Sinclair, Edith Tarbell - "muckrakers" who highlighted sloppy and dangerous industries

p.s. JB - Rosa Parks died. No one can talk to her any more.

There are literally thousands more. What fields interest you - science, religion, social justice? Do some reseach in any of these areas and you will find lots of people who influenced society.

If you want to be different, don't go the same route as your classmates. They'll likely be researching people whose influence was positive. There are a number of individuals who changed our culture though negative leadership.

Hitler
Madelyn Murray O'Hare
John Wilkes Booth
Norma McCorvey (Roe v Wade)
Lee Harvey Oswald
Richard Nixon
Joseph Stalin
Osama Bin Laden

I hope this helps!
