What awful answers you've been given!
It must have been the wording of it, I am hoping if you wanted answers like 'when god decides its time' you'd have gone over to 'Religion & Spirituality' to ask this.
Barring climatological problems mankind will be able to survive on this planet for about 5 billion years. Then the Sun will become a red giant and its orbit will expand to the point that the earth's orbit will actually be within the corona. Earth won't be there anymore because as the sun throws off mass our orbit will get bigger. Hard to imagine what mankind will be so far in to the future.
If we do survive that long there will be other threats. A local supernova could make several nearby starsystems uninhabitable, at least temporarily. If we can spread to lots of different star systems we might last another few billion years but unless we can escape the universe itself we won't live forever.

The world will never end because of mankinds need for survival and as soon as someone claims a danger, (like global warming or breast cancer), then the whole world tries hard searching for solutions, including offerring prizes, awards, tax deductions, media exposure, etc, etc., which also help motivate more to research these solutions. Look at Doctors., they get paid generously whether you live or die. It's all about the money.

This depends on your religious beiefs. Nostrodomus was a famous guy who predicted many things. The only predicion that I know of that did not come true of his was the end of the world. If you believe in Christianity the bible says that no one knows when the end will come, but God. Then if you read Revelations and look at the signs of the end times you will see that many of these things have already come to pass.

When the sun grows to a point that we can no longer survive on this planet.
According to the religious nuts and other goof balls it was supposed to have ended already. Now it is another date. And when that day passes it will be another.
Even if we are all dead the world hasnt ended til IT has ended.

Your world will end when your heart stops beating.Like the rest of us.What would you do if you knew without a doubt that on a certain date the world ( earth) was going to implode( or some other horror ) I personaly would hate the burden of such knowledge.

When the sun cools it will swell up to become a red giant, at which point it may have a diameter of 160,000,000 km ( maybe as big as the orbit of Venus ). As it swells the Earth will become hotter & hotter until no life is possible - but don't worry, it is unlikely to happen for about 3.5 billion years!
