More unstable? Yes. As bad as it is now? Not really. My hope, 10 years ago, was for less violence and increased stability. That's not gonna be happening anytime soon. What the Bush Administration has done is make a historically bad situation worse. The invasion of Iraq has clearly create more problems. Most notably, terrorists and insurgent groups now have much greater access to weapons cache and cash (that they can exchange for weapons) from both the former Republican National Guard and the US military. It is known that a significant portion of American tax dollars being spent on the war has been "lost" or "unrecovered" and ended up in the hands of the insurgents. This is called "adding fuel to the fire". No wonder everyone over there hates the USA more and more everyday, and increasing numbers are turning towards groups like Al Qaeda, who they see as "standing up" to the American Empire.

Let's go all the way back to the Ottoman Empire when the Muslims main objective was to convert the world to Islam and thought Christians were heathens.
Hmmm. Maybe nothing has really changed at all. Or maybe it has. Maybe even for the better.

"In August, electrical production of megawatts exceeded 5,000 for 25 days – producing enough power for approximately 450,000 homes. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Gulf Region Division is helping the Government of Iraq jumpstart its electrical infrastructure by infusing more than $4 billion dollars into the nation’s system. More than 500 electrical projects have been completed thus far in areas of generation, transmission and distribution."

Historically speaking, the middle east has never been as stable as it is now.
We just weren't paying attention while we were all here just burning cheap oil.
Mandate Bio Diesel. You can make it in your back yard.

Bring home ALL of the military, not just in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Install SDI and build fortress America.
Close the borders
Watch the carnage from here and when the smoke clears, deal with the last SOB standing.
Isolate now.

True democracy is the antidote to instability. The enemy knows this. That is why they are trying so desperately to stop it in Iraq. You see, if it succeeds there life will become far better for the Iraqi people. That will place a lot of pressure on the surrounding countries. Once the genie of liberty is let out of the bottle, it is nearly impossible to put it back in.
A little instability is called for in those tyranical countries.

Stable as a house of cards......as long as the world powers need the oil that is beneath their soil they will never have stability, it is not in the best interest of those powers to have real stability that would mean higher oil prices, rather than playing them off against each other with weapons sales and backroom deals.

Become more unstable than what? It has ALWAYS been unstable. Those folks have been fighting each other since before the proverbial parting of the sea.

Hmm..the Lebanon war, the Palestine War, the Iraq War...and the whole world sitting back watching it from afar and doing nothing about it....providing relief yes but not intervening and stopping it.
It is going to get a lot worse.

Well Iraq is coming to mind. I don't blame them for being unstable right now. They have foreigners in their country trying to take over. We should have just gone after the Ahole who attacked us in the first place and killed him. At least that would have sent some type of message that we will come get you if you do harm to us. What kind of message are we sending now?
