why did my steering clutch and accelerator fail?

i was driving home when the power steering, clutch and accelerator pedles all stopped working the car did not stall and once i shut the engine off and restarted it all was working again i have spoken to a mechanic but he said it must have stalled but i am 100% sure it did not can anyone tell me the problem

if the engine didnt quit you have a ghost unless you can duplacate it we will never know
