It is legal...
I believe that if i was put in the situation that I couldn't provide a good life for a child, I would have an abortion.
I know I would not be able to give a child up, it was hard enough for me to give my kitten away when i had to move.
I don't believe you should bring something into this world that you can not provide a good life for. If you can hardly feed yourself how are you supposed to feed a baby? You won't be able to and then it gets taken away by child protective services, and there you go, you loose it.
I know some people are totally against it, just remember this is my opinion.
In Canada, free health care, there for its free.

In the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, the Supreme Court ruled that women, in consultation with their physician, have a constitutionally protected right to have an abortion in the early stages of pregnancy—that is, before viability—free from government interference.

In 1992, the Court reaffirmed the right to abortion in Planned Parenthood v. Casey. However, the ruling significantly weakened the legal protections previously afforded women and physicians by giving states the right to enact restrictions that do not create an "undue burden" for women seeking abortion.

Thirty-four states currently enforce parental consent or notification laws for minors seeking an abortion. The Supreme Court ruled that minors must have an alternative, such as the ability to seek a court order authorizing the procedure
Even without specific parental involvement laws, six in 10 minors who have an abortion report that at least one parent knew about their procedure
Congress has barred the use of federal Medicaid funds to pay for abortions, except when the woman's life would be endangered by a full-term pregnancy or in cases of rape or incest.
Seventeen states do use public funds to pay for abortions for some poor women, but only four do so voluntarily; the rest do so under a court order
About 13% of all abortions in the United States are paid for with public funds (virtually all from state governments
Family planning clinics funded under Title X of the federal Public Health Service Act have helped women prevent 20 million unintended pregnancies over the last 20 years. An estimated nine million of these pregnancies would have been expected to end in abortion.

Yes -- it should be legal.

Because the alternative to it being legal -- and thus a personal choice -- is that the govt decides whether abortions are allowed, prohibited, or even mandatory.

Face it -- someone is going to make the choice -- either it is going to be the individual -- or it's going to be the majority (mob) through enacted laws. The issue is WHO gets to decide.

And if the govt can decide -- because reproductive freedom is not a fundamental right -- then the govt can make abortion mandatory just as easily as it can make it forbidden.

The govt should not have that kind of power -- which is why it needs to remain a legal, personal choice.

I'm going to get a million thumbs down on this, but I have to give my opinion regardless of what everyone else thinks. I know everyone says, "It's my body, I can do what I want with it" and everything but... I honestly don't think abortion should be legal. I CAN say that if someone was raped, I wouldn't judge them for having an abortion. Studies show, though, that a lot of women who have an abortion, end up having more than one...
I don't think that abortion should be an easy way out for people who don't want to take the time to be careful. It's much easier to NOT have sex or to use one of the MANY different birth control options available. Not to mention, with all of the "pro-life/pro-choice" fights going on, and everyone wanting to fight SO bad for their right to have abortions, women don't take the time to find out what harmful effects an abortion can have on THEM and their bodies. As far as killing babies... sigh... I'm more open minded that most, but I just can't condone it.

No, I do not believe it should be legal (though it is currently here in the US). Murder is murder. And, for those of you who say it isn't murder, if you go and kill a pregnant woman, you'll get a double-murder charge. Society thinks we can have it both ways, but we can't. Abortion does more than physically scar the mother, the emotional scars last for a lifetime.

In Oklahoma, it is legal only for cases of rape / incest and when medically necessary like when the mother will die. I think that is the way it should be everywhere. Abortion should not be birth control.

I believe abortion should be kept Illegal. Not only because is against my religion, but because of human ethics and destruction of life. In my personal opinion I blame all those who don't protect themselves (Boys & Girls), and later on they have to deal with the responsibility of a kid. A great percentage of the U.S.A believe in the lie of " It's not a human yet!". Believe it or not, it is a human! Read the Bible...!

It's a tough issue. Nobody's ever happy over an abortion. But for me telling a woman that she must have a baby she doesn't want to have is a bigger crime than aborting a bunch of cells almost too small to see.

Yes, it should be legal, because it is a needed service. I have no problem if it is done in the first trimester, when it is only some cells. If you've ever been a scared, oops I'm pregnant, girl, you might understand.

No it should not. people (men and women) should be responsible for their actions. Pregnancies don't just happen, you know.

And as far as the guy above me says, people are going to murder others anyway, people are going to rape anyway, people are going to steal anyway. Does that mean we should make them legal too?

Abortion should only be OK in the case of rape, or if the mother could die. otherwise, it is simply birth control, and should be illegal.
